Jordan CarrArchbishop Spalding HS senior Jordan Carr committed to UNC Asheville in 2014.  Carr went 5-2 last year with a 1.77 ERA in leading Spalding to the MIAA A Conference title.  In the title game he pitched a complete game allowing just one earned run.  The LHP was kind enough to take time out for PBR Maryland and let us all get to know him better.

Why did you choose UNCA?

--I chose UNC Asheville for the tough competition, the opportunity to play, and the coaching staff.

What other schools were you considering?

--I was considering, George Mason, Rider, University of South Carolina Aiken, UMBC, and Stony Brook.

Now that your commitment is over, what are your goals for your senior year?

--My goals for my senior year are to maintain my 3.8 GPA, get stronger all around; physically and mentally, and win the MIAA A Conference championship again this year.

What would you like to get accomplished before you step on campus at UNCA?

--I would like to get stronger, and I would like to prepare myself the best I can to face the Division I competition.

What are you looking forward to the most about UNCA?

--I am looking forward to the tight knit team atmosphere, developing as a player, and getting a college degree.

Who did you play for over the summer and what was your most memorable experience?

--I played for the Rawlings A's Prospects MD.  My most memorable experience over the summer was pitching against the Alpharetta Road Runners. I prepared myself very well because I knew if I did well against this team, I could make a name for myself, and we beat them 2-1.

Who has been the most influential person over your baseball career and why?

--My father has been the most influential person to my baseball career. He has always been the one pushing me, correcting my mistakes, and helping me understand the mental game of baseball.  He also has helped me understand the small aspects of the game that had huge impacts on the way I play, especially from a pitching standpoint.

Who is your favorite MLB player and why?

--My favorite MLB player is Clayton Kershaw. I like the way he pitches because he keeps the hitters off balance and they never know what is coming, that is why he comes out on top.

What is your goal by the end of your freshman year?  By the end of your college career?

--A big goal of mine is to bring leadership, have team chemistry, and win the Big South Conference Championship.

Random question:  What is your favorite movie and TV show?

--Favorite Movie: My Cousin Vinny.  TV show: Intentional Talk on MLB Network with Kevin Millar
