Q&A with Adrian Commit: Ryan Dorow, INF/RHP

By Mike Penn
Director of Scouting

Ryan Dorow recently committed to play for Craig Rainey at Adrian College. Dorow is an example of a winner and a gutsy player.  He has nice hands in the infield that are sure. His arm is above average for high school as he was 84mph across the diamond.  In addition to solid defense Dorow can swing it.  He has good pop in his bat and an aggressive approach.  He will be a good addition to the Adrian program.

Here is what Dorow had to say about his commitment:

PBR:  Where have you decided to attend college and why did you make this choice?
Dorow: I will be going to Adrian College in the fall. After visiting 4 or 5 campus's, I just felt most comfortable at Adrian. The facilities are amazing and the campus has a big college feel on a small campus.

PBR:  What other schools were you considering?

Dorow: I was very close to signing with D2 Tiffin University. I also made numerous visits to NAIA schools that were looking at commitments from me.

PBR:  Was distance from home a factor in your decision?

Dorow: Distance was a factor. I made a decision a few months ago that I wanted to be two or two and half hours away from home. I want my family and friends to be able to see me play and Adrian gets me away but not too far away from home.

PBR:  Where did the coaches first see you?  How did your
relationship develop with their coaching staff?
Dorow: Coach Rainey and my dad played together at Adrian so the connection was there. Coach Rainey saw me workout and play a couple of times over the past few years and was comfortable with my abilities.

PBR:  What role do the coaches expect you to play your first year on campus?
Dorow: Both starting middle infielders graduate in 2013. I will be working hard to earn a starting role as a freshman.

PBR:  What is your biggest strength as a player and how do you feel that will help your team?
Dorow: I love to play baseball. I give it 100% at all times and normally the results are pretty good. Hopefully I can be a stable part of Adrian's lineup for 4 years and add to the success they have had.

PBR:  Who do you play for in the summer and what was your most memorable experience from this past summer?
Dorow: Twin Cities Baseball out of St. Joe. Coach Danapilis has a bunch of local guys I have played with and against for years. Every tournament we have played in has been a good memory.

PBR:  Now that you have your commitment out of the way, what are your goals both individually and for the team going into your senior season?
Dorow: I just want to enjoy the rest of my Senior year. I have played 3 sports for 4 years and with just two seasons left, I hope our basketball and baseball teams can continue on our success's from last year. Our baseball team goal is another conference championship.
