Brett Herber, RHP, Lakeville North, Class of 2015

PBR: Why did you choose the school you did?

HERBER: I chose Winona State because when I went on my visit I really loved the campus and the baseball coaches made me feel like they really wanted me there.

PBR: What other schools were you considering?

HERBER: I was also considering St. Cloud State, University of North Dakota, and St. Thomas.

PBR: Where did they first see you? How did your relationship develop with the coaching staff?

HERBER: They first saw me at the Minnetonka showcase and contacted me about a week later. My relationship with the coaches grew from that point on.

PBR: What role do you expect to play your first year on campus?

HERBER: I expect to go in as a freshman and keep working hard and earn some playing time.

PBR: Who has had the biggest impact on you as a baseball player?

HERBER: Dad for sure. My dad spent many years catching me and always trying to help me whenever he could.

PBR: What have you worked on/ improved since last year?

HERBER: This off-season I’m working on improving my control of my off-speed pitches and also trying to get stronger and improve the velocity on my fastball.

PBR: Who is the toughest player that you have faced in Minnesota?

HERBER: Sam Hentges from Mounds View.

PBR: What are your thoughts on the recruiting process? Any advice for future players in your position.

HERBER: Go to showcases. It's the main way college coaches find baseball players now and was the most beneficial for me.
