Iowa State Director

Trey Beckman, OF, Cedar Rapids Prairie, Class of 2015

PBR:  Why did you choose Wabash Valley CC?

BECKMAN: Wabash Valley is one of the top Division 1 junior colleges in the nation. They send a great number of players to D1 by playing against the best competition and developing their players' skills.

PBR:  What other schools were you considering?

BECKMAN: I was also considering Heartland CC and Southeastern CC.

PBR:  Where did they first see you? How did your relationship develop with the coaching staff?

BECKMAN: WVC saw me at the PBR 2015 Prospect Games at the University of Iowa as well as some other tournaments during the fall.

PBR: What role do you expect to play your first year on campus?

BECKMAN: I hope to compete and be a key contributor in the outfield and in the line-up as an everyday player.

PBR: Who has had the biggest impact on you as a baseball player?

BECKMAN: Probably my dad because he was my travel team coach from when I was 8 to 14.

PBR: What have you worked on/improved since last year?

BECKMAN: I've worked on developing more power and my outfield footwork. This winter I'll continue working on those aspects along with doing a throwing program to try and achieve more arm strength and velocity.

PBR: Who is the toughest player that you have faced in Iowa?

BECKMAN: Spencer Van Scoyoc

PBR:  What are your thoughts on the recruiting process? Any advice for future players in your position.

BECKMAN: Take your time. Get as many options as possible. Don't let a school try to pressure you into making a decision sooner than what you are comfortable with.
