T.J. Sikkema, LHP, Central Dewitt, Class of 2016

PBR: Why did you choose the University of Missouri?

SIKKEMA: It felt like home down there on the visits and the baseball program has a great track record of getting pitchers to the next level.

PBR: What other schools were you considering?

SIKKEMA: I was only considering Missouri and Iowa.

PBR: Where did the coaching staff first see you? How did your relationship develop with them?

SIKKEMA: They noticed me at a Christmas camp I attended and we continued to talk from then on.

PBR: Do you feel relieved now that the process is over and you can just focus on baseball and not deal with everything that goes into picking a school?

SIKKEMA: Yes, this was a huge decision and now that it's over I can focus on school and baseball.

PBR: Was there one deciding factor that put your choice over the top?

SIKKEMA: The baseball program overall was the one factor that sealed the deal for Mizzou.

PBR: Who has helped you the most to get to where you are today?

SIKKEMA: My dad has coached me all throughout the years and has taught me everything I know.

PBR: What were your expectations about the recruiting process? Was it easy/difficult?

SIKKEMA: It was pretty easy, but my goal was to get to the division I level.

PBR: What plans does the coaching staff have in store for you in your freshman season?

SIKKEMA: That is yet to be determined and we will see in a couple of years.

PBR: What is your most memorable baseball moment to date?

SIKKEMA: Losing to Assumption last year in the Sub-State game.  It is the motivation to get better for next season.

PBR: Who is the toughest player that you have competed against?

SIKKEMA: I had to hit off of Keaton McKinney in Fall League for a game.
