P.J. DeMeo, 2B/SS, Central Catholic, Class of 2013

                                

PBR:  Where have you decided to attend college and why did you make this choice?
DeMeo: I have decided to attend the University Of Pittsburgh. I chose Pitt for its strong academics as well as the opportunity to become a Pitt Panther.

PBR:  What other schools were you considering?
DeMeo: I was considering Georgetown, Eastern Kentucky, Mount Saint Mary’s, Northwestern and Arkansas. 

PBR:  Was distance from home a factor in your decision?
DeMeo: Not really, I knew that if I was happy with my decision it wouldn’t matter. I am happy that my family will be able to see me play as well.

PBR:  Where did the coaches first see you?  How did your relationship develop with their coaching staff?
DeMeo: They first saw me play my sophomore year with the Allegheny Pirates at a tournament. My relationship with Coach Jordano was awesome. We developed a fantastic relationship and I’m excited to play for him and his coaching staff.

PBR:  What role do the coaches expect you to play your first year on campus?
DeMeo: They expect me to compete every day to contribute to the team so that we may achieve our ultimate goals as a team. 

PBR:  What is your biggest strength as a player and how do you feel that will help your team?
DeMeo: My biggest strength would be my defensive abilities and baseball IQ. I feel it can help win us some games.

PBR:  Who do you play for in the summer and what was your most memorable experience from this past summer?
DeMeo: I am a member of the Pittsburgh Spikes out of La Roche College in the WPEBL league. My favorite memory would have to be our pre-game practices.

PBR:  What is your current GPA?
DeMeo: My current GPA is a 4.4 on a weighted scale.

PBR:  Now that you have your commitment out of the way, what are your goals both individually and for the team going into your senior season?
DeMeo: As a team, we want to win the WPIAL championship and then go on to win the State title. Individually, I want to be the best scholar athlete that I am capable of being.
