January 24, 2012
PBR: What were your stats last season for Zionsville and/or the Indiana Mustangs?
Barrientos: My batting average for Zionsville was around .350 and with the Mustangs around .370.
PBR: Why did you choose Wabash Valley?
Barrientos: The coaching staff and the feel my mom and I received when we first went there was exactly what we were looking for.
PBR: What other schools were you considering?
Barrientos: I was considering Grand Rapids, Central Michigan and Evansville.
PBR: Where did Wabash Valley first see you compete?
Barrientos: They first saw me in my videos online, and then saw me when playing for Zionsville.
PBR: What role do the coaches expect you to play during your first year on campus?
Barrientos: The coaches expect me to come in and fight for centerfield right away or a starting outfield spot.
PBR: What is your biggest strength as a player and how do you feel that will help Wabash Valley?
Barrientos: My biggest strength is my bat and I think that will help me because it's a good way to get in the line-up.
PBR: Who has had the biggest impact on you as a baseball player?
Barrientos: No doubt my dad and mom. Just being around my dad and learning more and more has always made me better. My mom’s perseverance has got me through those tough slumps.
PBR: What was your most exciting experience playing summer ball?
Barrientos: My most exciting experience was beating a team after a rain delay with Eric McKibban and only having 5 players there.
PBR: Who is the toughest pitcher you have faced in Indiana?
Barrientos: I think the toughest pitcher is Steve Rice, I faced him my sophomore year.
PBR: What are your goals both individually and for the team going into your senior season?
Barrientos: My goals are just to play the best I can and help my team to my full potential. For the team it's to live up to our full potential, we felt like we let one slip away last year and we don't want to let that happen again.
