PBR: Why did you choose Ohio State?

Niemeyer: I've wanted to be a Buckeye for a long time, and when I visited the campus and spent time with the coaching staff the fit was perfect.

PBR: What other schools were you considering?

Niemeyer: Toledo, Dayton, and Akron

PBR: Where did the Coach Beals  first see you? How did your relationship develop with their coaching staff?

Niemeyer: OSU's pitching coach, Coach Stafford, saw me pitch in April and I visited campus shortly after that. I didn't pitch at all in the summer, but we stayed in touch. I started to get a real good feel of what it would be like to play for the Ohio State coaching staff.

PBR: What role do the coaches expect you to play your first year on campus?

Niemeyer: They expect me to come in and compete for a job in the starting rotation right away. 

PBR: What is your biggest strength as a player and how do you feel that you will help Buckeye baseball?

Niemeyer: My biggest strength is my ability to locate my fastball on both sides of the plate to get ahead of hitters. When I go into the game the coaches will know that I am going to attack hitters and not give them any free bases.

PBR:  You were hurt during the end of your spring season and most of the summer.  How much of an impact did that have on your recruiting proces?

Niemeyer: That really slowed things down in the recruiting process, but my high school coach and summer ball coach assured schools that my arm was fine. Once I proved I was healthy at the end of the summer things started to pick up again.  

PBR: Now that you have your commitment out of the way, what are your goals both individually and for the team for the rest of your senior season?

Niemeyer:  Individually I want to improve my velocity on my fastball, and develop greater command of my off speed pitches. As a team I want to win our league, the MAC, and get back to Columbus and win our third straight state championship.

PBR: What were your stats for last spring season at  Minster ?

Niemeyer: I was 5-0 with a 0.00 ERA, 45 IP and 76 strikeouts
 
PBR: Who is the toughest hitter that you have faced in Ohio?

Niemeyer: I have faced so many tough hitters throughout Ohio, so I can't pick just one person.
