Q and A with Northern Kentucky Commit Aric Harris (Ahland)
March 2, 2012
PBR: Why did you choose Northern Kentucky?
Harris: When i went for my visit i really liked campus and the coaching staff and a lot of what they said seemed to fit me as a baseball player.
PBR: What other schools were you considering?
Harris: Marietta, Central Michigan, and Eastern Kentucky
PBR: Where did NKU first see you? How did your relationship develop with their coaching staff?
Harris: At the T3 Pelicans winter showcase in Cleveland. I talked to Coach Asalon a few times and liked what i heard and we eventually set up a visit.
PBR: Did NKU’s switch to Division 1 athletics help decide your decision?
Harris: Yes
PBR: What role do the coaches expect you to play your first year on campus?
Harris: As a freshman i think i need to go in with an open mindset and do what needs to be done to get a lot of playing time and help the team in any way.
PBR: What is your biggest strength as a player and how do you feel that you will help NKU?
Harris: A quality right handed pitcher that throws strikes and finds ways to get people out, that being said if i can do that i should have no problem fitting in and being a regular.
PBR: Who do you play for in the summer and what was the most memorable experience from this summer?
Harris: Last summer i played for our local legion team and i would have to say my most memorable moment was when we beat Sandusky 11-2 where i only had one earned run. That was a team that we hadn't beaten in about five years.
PBR: Now that you have your commitment out of the way, what are your goals both individually and for the team going into your senior season?
Harris: I think we have a great chance to do something big this year as a team if we can all stay healthy and get everyone to mesh well together. If that happens i know we can win our conference and make a deep run into the tournament.
PBR: What were your stats for this spring season at Ashland?
Harris: 4-1 1.5 ERA
PBR: Who is the toughest hitter that you have faced in Ohio?
Harris: Kirby Clemens
