Heath Reynolds is a 6-foot, 210 pound C/1B from Wapahani High School. Prep Baseball Report Indiana recently sat down with Reynolds and asked him some questions regarding his commitment to play baseball at Danville Area Community College.
PBR: What were your stats last season for Wapahani?
Reynolds: I batted.424 with 54 RBI, 11 2B and 8 HR.
PBR: Why did you choose Danville Area CC?
Reynolds: I chose Danville because I liked the coaching staff and the team was a good fit because I know one of the players already playing there.
PBR: What other schools were you considering?
Reynolds: Others schools I was considering were Vincennes and Earlham.
PBR: Where did Danville Area CC first see you compete?
Reynolds: Danville saw me first compete in a fall league showcase held by Mike Shirley.
PBR: What role do the coaches expect you to play during your first year on campus?
Reynolds: They expect me to catch and play first-base and to try to keep myself in the lineup by hitting and then excel as a player.
PBR: What is your biggest strength as a player and how do you feel that will help Danville Area CC?
Reynolds: Hitting because when the coach needs me to get something done I will get it done.
PBR: Who has had the biggest impact on you as a baseball player?
Reynolds: White Sox Scout Mike Shirley and my coach from Wapahani Coach Dudley had the biggest impact. Mike helped me since as was 10 years old and he helped me progress into the player I have become today. I owe it all to Mike.
PBR: Who do you play for in the summer and what was your most exciting experience?
Reynolds: Muncie Legion Post 19. My most exciting experience was getting to play all of the Alabama teams down in Tennessee.
PBR: Who is the toughest pitcher you have faced in Indiana?
Reynolds: The toughest pitcher I have faced in Indiana was Justin O' Conner.
PBR: What are your goals both individually and for the team going into your senior season?
Reynolds: My goal is to have at least a .500 BA this year and to help my team get past Regionals and also develop Wapahani for the future.
