Q and A with 2015 Western Michigan University Commit: Connor Smith (H.H. Dow High School)
February 17, 2014
Connor Smith, INF, H.H. Dow High School, 2015
PBR - Why did you commit to Western Michigan University?
Smith - The coaching staff, I absolutely love what they have to offer me as a person, they have all the qualities that I want in a coach. They first saw me play this past fall when I was playing for the Motor City Pride. I plan to study business at WMU.
PBR - What other schools were part of your recruiting process?
Smith - I was also looking at Michigan State, Cincinnati, and Oakland.
PBR - What are your goals for this season as a team and personal?
Smith - Our team goal is to make it to East Lansing for the state championship. This will be our best year yet as a team, we have a lot of returning talent. My personal goal is to help my team win no matter what.
PBR - Who is the best player you have played against or with?
Smith - That would be my teammate Alex Sova (Iowa Western Commit). He is a very hard worker, he throws in the upper 80's with very good command. He is a person I have looked up to this entire recruiting process.
PBR - Who has had the biggest influence on you as a baseball player?
Smith - My Dad, because of all the time he has put into making me better and who I am today. He has spent countless hours throwing to me in the batting cage, hitting me groundballs, and working with me to make me better.
