PBR: Why did you choose Morehead State?

Bolton: I chose Morehead State because I felt very comfortable with the coaching staff and I was excited about how their program has been moving in the right direction.

PBR: What other schools were you considering?

Bolton: Xavier, Ohio, Cincinnati, and Tiffin

PBR: Where did the coaches first see you?  How did your relationship develop with them?

Bolton: They first saw me through videos on Field Level and PBR.  They then saw me for the first time live at the Top Prospect Games in June.  We have been in contact since last February and after the Top Prospect Games our communication seemed to spike.

PBR: Was distance from home a factor in your decision?

Bolton: Distance was not a factor in my decision.  My parents wanted to me to experience living away from home and to find a place where I will enjoy playing.  It will be nice to attend a school far enough away from home so that I will have to be self-sufficient but close enough so they can still see me play.

PBR: What role do the coaches expect you to play your first year on campus?

Bolton: They expect me to be able to compete for playing time in the infield and also for innings on the mound.

PBR: You participated in numerous PBR’s Top Prospect Games.  How has PBR helped you with the recruiting process? 

Bolton: PBR has helped me tremendously with my recruiting process.  Schools have had the advantage of watching films and reading write up's you guys put on my player page.  This allowed schools like Morehead State to be able to get a good understanding of me as a player before coming and seeing me play live. 

PBR:  Who do you play for in the summer and what is your most memorable experience?

Bolton: I play for the Midwest Marlins and my most memorable experience was when we came from behind to beat the Lid's Indiana Bulls in the 2013 Cincy Flames wood bat tournament in the bottom of the seventh.

PBR: Who has had the biggest impact on you as a baseball player?

Bolton: Both my dad and my grandpa impacted me at an early age with the game of baseball.  They taught me the fundamentals and most importantly the love for the game that I have carried on throughout my life.  But, it would be unfair to not mention some other people who have impacted me over the past years: Bobby Wright, Coach Scott Manahan, and Ryan Weaver.  Bobby Wright was my instructor from ages 12-15 and over those years he taught me so much about the physical aspect of the game and also the mental part of the game.  I loved seeing him and working with him for those years and without him I do not think I would be where I am at today.  Coach Manahan has taught me how to work as hard as I can and to be determined with anything I do in my life.  He has helped me so much during my high school career and I wouldn't have wanted any other coach. Last but not least, my summer coach Ryan Weaver.  This guy has truly been a blessing to me.  He has taught me so much the past two years and has formed me into not only the baseball player I am today, but also the person I am as well.  The amount of time he has spent not only with me, but also my teammates is very hard to come by.  He cares about his player’s maybe more than any other coach I have been around my entire life.  I have truly been blessed to have had such great people and inspirations in my life and I cannot thank these people enough.

PBR: What were your stats this spring season at Watterson?

Bolton: BA: .376  OBP: .477  SLG: .465  OPS: .942  19 RBI 19 Runs 

PBR: Who is the toughest hitter that you have faced in Ohio?

Bolton: Easily my best friend Roger Danison.  The kid is an absolute stud and I love facing him both on the mound and in the field.  He can flat out rake.
