PBR: Why did you choose Wabash?

Harris:  I choose Wabash Valley because I felt that all three coaches there had great background knowledge about baseball. Their head coach, Rob Fournier has had great success while he has been at Wabash and he can really help me improve on my game while I'm there.

PBR: What other schools were you considering?

Harris: When I started the recruiting process I had a lot of interest in Kentucky, Louisville, and West Virginia, but when I started my senior year my family and I felt that JUCO was the best choice for me at the time. That is when Wabash Valley caught my best interest.

PBR: Where did the Wabash coaching staff first see you? How did your relationship develop with them?

Harris:  I believe they first saw me during high school ball last spring. They were there watching Hamilton's ace Patrick McGuff (who is at Wabash Valley now) and they had a chance to see a couple at bats of mine. When I first talked to Coach Segal the recruiting coordinator at Wabash, I felt that I had a great relationship with him right then and there. Our relationship now is still on that same page and we still talk every once and while.

PBR: What role do the coaches expect you to play your first year on campus?

Harris: They feel as though I could find myself as their starting first basemen next year but they said it wouldn't be easy for me and that I would have to work hard to earn that role.

PBR: What is your biggest strength as a player and how do you feel that you will help Walsh baseball?

Harris: My biggest strength as a player is by far hitting. I take a lot of pride in my hitting and I have worked hard to get to where I am now since I was about 11. So far this offseason I have worked hard to get my body in better shape to work on my speed, as well as my defense. I believe I could really help Wabash score some runs and to keep the dugout loose during the game, but when it's time to work I am all business.

PBR: Who do you play for in the summer and what was the most memorable experience from this summer?

Harris: This past summer I played with the Midland Braves but next summer I will be playing for the Indiana Prospects. The most memorable experience I had from last summer I would have to say is when we won a tournament down in Louisville. The championship game was a great game and really kept you on your toes the whole game. 

PBR: Now that you have your commitment out of the way, what are your goals both individually and for the team for the rest of your senior season?

Harris: The goals I have for our team this spring is for us to finish near the top of the GMC, we have a very tough conference and our team is young and we all love to win, I really believe we could really surprise some people this spring. For myself I would like to improve on a few elements of my game before summer ball starts, like improve my defense and increase my speed. Also Coach Shrimpton has given me the role of Team Captain this year and as honored as I am, I really want to work on my leadership throughout the season.

PBR: What were your stats for last spring season at Sycamore?

Harris: Last spring I batted .296 with 4 homeruns and 16 RBIs

PBR: Who is the toughest pitcher that you have faced in Ohio?

Harris: I have face a lot of great pitchers out there but I would say either Patrick McGuff from Hamilton or Andrew McDonald from Mason, but between those two I would have to give McDonald the edge over McGuff. I remember McDonald had great command of all his pitches and could throw them no matter what the count was.
