Q and A with 2013 Lake Erie Commit: Andrew Cobb (Moeller HS)
September 25, 2012
Andrew Cobb, RHP, Moeller HS, Class of 2013
PBR: Why did you choose Lake Erie?
Cobb: I chose Lake Erie College because everything felt right. Class sizes, academic offerings, the campus and of course the Baseball Program! Lake Erie is in a challenging conference and the coaches are dedicated to bettering their players as individual players as well as producing a winning team.
PBR: What other schools were you considering?
Cobb: I had interest from Northern Kentucky, Ohio University, Tiffin University and a few others as well.
PBR: Where did the coaches first see you? How did your relationship develop with their coaching staff?
Cobb: I believe they first saw me at Buckeye Scout. My relationship with the coaches from the start as been great! I love how straight forward Coach McGee was with me throughout the recruiting process.
PBR: Now that you have your commitment out of the way, what are your goals both individually and for the team going into your senior season?
Cobb: Individually I would like to continue to develop my game mentally and physically. With the help of Mike Hayes (the strength and condition coach at Moeller). I believe I will only get stronger and better. As far as team I believe the goal is simple. To get Moeller back to back State Titles.
PBR: Moeller baseball has such a rich history. How does it feel to be a part of such a great baseball program?
Cobb: To be a part of Moeller’s baseball program is truly humbling. I grew up watching players such as Ken Griffey Jr. and Barry Larkin and to think when I go out on that field and play with the same name across my chest is an honor.
PBR: Last spring you won the Division 1 State Championship. How much pressure do you feel to repeat that success again this year and what will it take for it to happen?
Cobb: Last year was a magical season, but in order to repeat we have to forget about last year and focus on now. The most important part to the success of any team is just to come together and play as a team.
PBR: Who do you play for in the summer and what was the most memorable experience from this summer?
Cobb: I played for Cincinnati Baseball Club under Cary Daniel. The most memorable moment was playing in the C.A.B.A World Series.
PBR: What were your stats this spring season at Moeller?
Cobb: I was 2-0. I pitched 16.2 innings and I had 29 strikeouts. My ERA was 2.52.
