PBR: Why did you choose Taylor University?
Masters: I really like what Taylor has to offer me as a school and as a baseball player. The school has a great atmosphere where I can grow in my faith and relationship with God, and also they have a great coaching staff who I believe will make me into the best baseball player I can be.
PBR: What other schools were you considering?
Masters: Cedarville, Marietta, and Akron
PBR: Where did Taylor University first see you? How did your relationship develop with their coaching staff?
Masters: I contacted Taylor first, but he saw my article on PBR. I went for a visit and threw for him and they made me feel comfortable right from the start.
PBR: What role do the coaches expect you to play your first year on campus?
Masters: I think they expect me to come in, work hard, learn from the few senior pitchers they have, and hopefully compete for a starting spot my freshman year
PBR: What is your biggest strength as a player and how do you feel that you will help Taylor?
Masters: My pitches have a lot of good movement, and I have confidence in each one of them. I feel that I can help Taylor by coming into their program and developing into a solid pitcher on their pitching staff.
PBR: Who do you play for in the summer and how did it help the recruiting process?
Masters: This past summer I played for my local ACME team which I don’t think helped much in the recruiting process, but I worked out at Tom Held’s pitching camp, and went to a couple showcases which I think helped get my name on the radar
PBR: What was the most memorable experience from this summer?
Masters: My most memorable experience from this summer I would say was when I threw a no-hitter against Edgerton high school.
PBR: Who has had the biggest impact on you as a baseball player?
Masters: I would say my family has the biggest impact on me as a baseball player. They always believed in me and supported me throughout my years of baseball. Also my good friend Trenton Pilmore worked with me everyday this past summer and kept me motivated to get better.
PBR: What were your stats for this spring season at North Central?
Masters: 68 k’s 34 BB 3.08 ERA 52 1/3 INN ….. .315 Avg. 4 HR 6 Doubles 21 RBI
PBR: Who is the toughest pitcher that you have faced in Ohio?
Masters: Ryan and Tiler Wells from Edon, Ohio were the toughest pitchers I’ve faced in Ohio. They now pitch at Lincoln Trail Jr. College.
