Purdue lands a pair, and other recruiting news

By Sean Duncan

Purdue University landed a pair of premier players when it received commitments Adam Dressler and Drew Nichols, both highly ranked prospects in their respective class.

Dressler, a 6-foot, 180-pound RHP from Hinsdale Central HS, is one of the top prospects in the Class of 2013. Dressler showed he is one of the top arms in the class at the Super 60 in February, when he sat 90-91 with his fastball.

Nichols, an athletic 6-foot-3, 175-pound RHP from Bishop McNamara HS, is currently ranked No. 9 in the Class of 2014. Nichols was 85-88 mph this summer at a few events.

In other news, Kenny King, a Class of 2012 OF from Providence Catholic HS, has committed to Tennessee-Martin University. The 6-foot-3 King enjoyed a breakout senior year for the Celtics, serving as the team’s prime run-producer.

Cody Bobbit, a left-handed hitting SS from Heartland CC, has committed to Wichita State. Bobbit, who starred at Palatine HS, is coming off a strong freshman year at Heartland.
