PROGRESS REPORT: Jace Smith

PBR has had the chance to dig through the players and numbers from the summer & throughout the beginning of the fall where we have seen several players make some significant jumps in recent weeks. Today, we will be taking a look at a "Progress Report" feature that highlights players that have shown significant improvement in their game; whether it's on the mechanical end, performance wise, physicality or in the measurable statistic department. The "Progress Report" can be a minor improvement in recent months or a substantial transformation over time. Today, we will be taking a look at 2022 RHP Jace Smith (Liberty).

+ 2022 RHP Jace Smith (Mountain Ridge)- attended our 2023 Top Prospect Games this past summer with having a tournament during his 2022 class session. At the event, he worked his FB 81-84mph, throwing with long arm action with average arm speed from a H3/4 slot. It was an overall average day for Smith but it was enough to show some future upside especially on the mound. Today, he has started to make some improvements this fall. He has cleaned up his delivery to make it a bit more fluid & athletic to go along with his strong 6-foot-2 185-pound body. Noticeably, Smith is moving more efficiently down the mound with some added quickness. His arm path & swing has shortened up a tad with more consistency than the past with additional arm speed. His FB worked 87-89mph in a recent outing for the Twisters/ Mets 4 Corners Scout Team. Smith's improvements should be monitored closely.
