Scouting Report
2017 New Jersey State Games (July 26-27, 2017) Crowding has a broad shouldered build at 5-foot-11 180-pounds. Ran the 60 yard dash in 7.69-seconds, exit velocity topped at 86 MPH. Offensively – had one of the best overall individual performances at the plate of any player at the event during gameplay. Mashed three doubles into the gaps throughout the two days. At the plate, starts in a narrow stance and in a crouch with hands above back shoulder. Uses a foot stride and toe tap to start swing. Hand load is minimal as hands move back slightly. Uses torque in hips and extension in hands and arms to the baseball to create some power. Finishes tall and balanced with a stiff front leg. Defensively – took reps at third base. Throws topped at 81 MPH across the infield. Short arm, high-3/4 slot. Hesitant with footwork, with average hands and clean exchange. Throws had some armside run. Pitching – fastball topped at 81 MPH and sat mostly 79-81 throughout his outing. Curveball showed 11/5 bite at 68-69 and also flashed a changeup with armside fade at 70-73. Long, stiff arm action. Level shoulders going down the mound. Lands firm on lead leg with balance maintained throughout release. Will spin off slightly on release toward first base side of rubber, especially on offspeed pitches.
