The Preseason Prospect I.D. took place on Sunday January 28^th, at Smith-Wills in Jackson, MS. The open event saw seventy-five players from all across Mississippi perform in front of several college coaches and the PBR Scouting Staff.

Yesterday we began our coverage of the event in our Stats Breakdown, which you can VIEW HERE. Today, we dive a little deeper into the event with a few observations, and nuggets from our scouting staff.

2019 C Caleb Sterlings (Warren Central) is a left handed hitting catcher that displayed quality arm strength. The uncommitted junior stands 5-foot-11, 180-pounds and recorded an event best pop time ranging 1.81-1.92, with a velocity from the crouch of 77 mph.

2019 SS Bryson Ware (Germantown) is a projectable, high-waisted, long-limb frame at 6-foot-1, 180-pounds. The junior showed smooth actions on the infield with athletic footwork throwing from a short over-top arm slot recording a max velocity of 84 mph across the diamond. At the plate, the stroke was short impacting the ball with line drive contact also posting a 90 mph exit velocity.

2019 LHP Trevor Waddell (Germantown) pitched 81-82 mph with his fastball. The left-hander has a smooth, fluid delivery and an athletic frame at 6-foot-1, 185-pounds. His curveball came in at 68-72 mph, and he threw a 78-80 mph changeup. Waddell showed feel to command three pitches in the zone.

2019 RHP Shelby Terrell (West Marion) was his normal self on Sunday. The 6-foot-2, 165-pound right-hander is primed to make a velocity jump in the coming year. His fastball topped out at 83 mph, and he continued to show feel for three pitches.

This was our first look at 2020 SS Blaise Breerwood (Poplarville). Breerwood showed a balanced approach at the plate with quick hands, loose finish and developing strength. On the infield he moves with easy, athletic actions with an accurate arm across the diamond.

2021 C Parker Ryan (Jackson Academy) is an athletic, fast-twitch player and posted some of the most accurate and consistent pop times of the day (1.85-1.97) with a quick exchange and footwork, and velocity from the crouch of 77 mph. He displayed proportional strength for his size and made hard contact to the pull side during batting practice and an exit velocity of 85 mph.

Several 2021 graduates impressed on Sunday as well. SS/RHP Nikolas Mazza (Madison-Ridgeland Academy) and 3B/RHP Branson Tadlock (Ridgeland) both displayed intriguing tools. Mazza displayed quality arm strength throughout the entire day, recording an 85 mph infield velocity, also jumping on the mound pitching 84-85 mph with his fastball. Tadlock, a hulking figure at 6-foot-3, 210-pounds, exhibited fluid actions both defensively and offensively. On the infield Tadlock moved fluidly for his age and size and at the plate the right-hander showed potential pull side power as he blasted several balls to deep left field.
