COVID ended the 2020 season early throughout the State but as things progress quickly for the 2021 high school season, it’s time for us to preview teams from around the State in the Yearly Preseason Preview. Schedules are being adapted to fit the ever-changing landscape and though this season may look different than history has shown us, coaches/staff, players, families, and our team are preparing for 2021 to be as successful as possible.
We’ve submitted the Preseason Questionnaire to high school head coaches across the entire state and their responses have been flooding in. Over the next several weeks, we’ll be using their detailed insight on our team-by-team previews ahead of the 2021 season leading into the California Power 25 Rankings.

SEASON OUTLOOK:
Coach Espino has been at King City for 25 years and sees the program’s best days ahead expecting to be a regular atop the Pacific Coast Athletic League (PCAL) in 2021. King City has had success in this league for years and is looking to keep that up in 2021 as they return 8 starters and 3 pitchers. With returners in the Infield, the Mustangs expect to play good defense, and with their offensive depth will look to support a young pitching staff. That young staff will be supported by a returning Catcher who Coach Espino believes will be helpful in having the pitchers improve through the season. Look for King City to make an impact in the PCAL and a possible Division 3 run through the Central Coast Section.
