The Floyd Central Highlanders and head Coach Casey LaDuke are looking to build off of a 15-12 season in 2012. They bring back an experienced team with solid upperclassmen talent. Overall they bring back seven starters and three pitchers from last year's squad, so expectations for 2013 are high.
Leading the way for the Highlanders is a pair of talented senior infielders, Jacob Snodgrass and Connor Curry. Both are former Hoosier Hills All Conference selections and should give Floyd Central one of the better middle infields in the state.
Four other seniors will be key in Floyd Central's success. Kyle Sipes, a 2012 All HHC selection, will be one of Coach LaDuke’s main pitchers. Kyle Neafus, Cody Sunderhaus, and Derek DeSpain will fill out an experienced outfield for the Highlanders. Sunderhaus will also be counted on to throw quality innings.
Ross Lundy (1B) and Michael Springer (OF) are key contributors from the junior class. Springer will be used on the mound as well. Colton Kimm (IF/P) was selected for the All HHC 2nd team as a freshman in 2012, and after a year of varsity time should be a big impact player in 2013.
The Highlanders will have to navigate through one of the most difficult conferences in the state, but the tough competition should prepare them well for the state tournament.
