The second annual Prep Baseball Report Preseason I.D. - McHenry at Pro Player Academy in McHenry, IL is coming Sunday, January 29, 2017. The event, which will consist of 2017-2020 high school graduates, has sold out.

24 players from last year’s event have committed to play at the next level so far. RHP’s Matthew McCumber (Cary-Grove, 2017) and Michael Lasiewicz (McHenry, 2017) were ranked the top overall prospects from the event and both went on to commit to Northern Illinois. Jeff Heinrich (Huntley), who is currently ranked No. 49 in the Illinois 2017 class also was in attendance and committed to McHenry County College.

This year’s roster should once again provide the same depth of talent. Two of the more interesting 2019’s in attendance should be catchers, Alex Powers (Prairie Ridge) and Julio Cajigas (Romeoville). Both are currently top 50 prospects in the class, have good arms from behind the plate and Cajigas is a switch hitter. OF Kyle Hetherington (Crystal Lake South) is a 2019 on the rise. The left/left athlete showed well at the Underclass Invitational a few weeks ago.

RHP AJ Golembiewski (Marian Central Catholic), RHP Keegan Garcelon (Huntley) and LHP Kyle Morgan (Huntley) are three 2018 arms worth noting. Golembiewski is 6-foot-4, 175-pound, long, projectable righty who pitches in the low 80’s with a three-pitch mix. Garcelon is 6-foot-4, 180-pounds and was up to 85 mph last summer. Morgan is a 6-foot-3, 180-pound, projectable, southpaw with feel for the zone and pitches in the low 80’s.
