Preseason All-State Standout: 2019 SS Austin Heideman
March 8, 2018
Chris Fuller
Kentucky Director of Scouting
5-foot-10, 150 pound RHH with plenty of physical projection to lanky/athletic frame. There were other MIF’s with better numbers across the board, but what stood out about Heideman was his athleticism on the field. Has the defensive ability to be an advanced defender, and while he lacks premium arm strength, his quick release helps make up for some of that. Moves well with athletic feet. Posted one of the top 5 SS 60 times of the event. Starts open and uses a leg kick and fairly long stride which can create occasional timing issues. Offensive ability is apparent when synced up. Bat path stays fairly flat through the zone to produce line drive contact. Very intriguing SS to follow this spring.
