POWER 25 WEEK SEVEN REVIEW
No. 1 Notre Dame (Sherman Oaks)
Notre Dame won two out of three games against No. 25 Crespi, dropping the finale of the series 3-1. Their record sits at a strong 16-2 and they have the week off.
No. 2 Santa Margarita
Santa Margarita played multiple out-of-state opponents as well as No. 17 JSerra. In four games they won three, dropping a game on Friday to JSerra. Their record sits at 14-3 with a week off this week.
No. 3 Villa Park
Villa Park won and lost one via shutout to Pacifica this past week their record sits at 12-3. A game in tournament play against an out-of-state opponent from Utah awaits them this week.
No. 4 Valley Christian
Valley Christian won their only game of the week against No. 11 Archbishop Mitty in shutout fashion. Their record sits at 11-1 with multiple tournament games this week.
No. 5 Franklin (Elk Grove)
Franklin won two of three this past week in league play. Their record sits at 12-2 with one game this week.
No. 6 Corona
Corona had two extra-inning games against formerly ranked Norco, each going to 10 innings and winning both, on the final game on Thursday they shut them out 4-0 bringing their record to 11-3. Corona has three league games this week.
No. 7 Whitney
Whitney swept their three-game league series bringing their record to 10-1. They have one game this week against No. 11 Archbishop Mitty.
No. 8 De La Salle
De La Salle won both their games in the past week, one coming via a 15-11 shootout and a 6-0 shutout. Their record sits at 9-1 and they face formerly ranked St. Francis in one of two games this week.
No. 9 South Hills
South Hills started their week by losing 3-2, but they bounced back with two straight shutouts in league matchups. They have tournament play this week with the potential of up to four games, looking to improve upon their 12-3 record.
No. 10 Aquinas
Aquinas won three out of four games this week in tournament play. Their record sits at 9-2 heading into a three-game week.
No. 11 Archbishop Mitty
Archbishop Mitty’s game against formerly ranked Saint Ignatius was rained out, and their game against No. 4 Valley Christian ended in a loss leaving their record at 11-2. They have tournament play next week including a game against No. 7 Whitney.
No. 12 Bonita
Bonita played no games this past week but will look to add to their 9-2 record with three games in tournament play this week.
No. 13 Etiwanda
Etiwanda started the week with two straight wins. In their games later in the week they continued the win streak, bringing their record to 8-2. They have three games this week.
No. 14 Orange Lutheran
Orange Lutheran blew out Alabama opponent Hoover, 13-1. On Saturday they lost 5-4 bringing their record to 10-8-1. They have no games this week.
No. 15 Harvard Westlake
Harvard Westlake didn’t play any games this past week but will kick off a busy week of tournament play against out-of-state teams. They hold steady at 9-7.
No. 16 La Mirada
La Mirada lost both of their games this week bringing their record to 9-4. They have three games this week.
No. 17 JSerra
JSerra had tournament play this past week. They won both of their games including a matchup against No. 2 Santa Margarita bringing their record to 10-7. They have the week off with a matchup against No. 13 Etiwanda the following week.
No. 18 Gahr
Gahr won their first game of the week via shutout and on their Saturday matchup they won 10-2 bringing their record to 11-2-1. They have three tournament games this week.
No. 19 Bellarmine
Bellarmine split their two games this week, dropping one to Sacred Heart and winning against formerly ranked St. Ignatius. Their record sits at 8-3-1 as they enter into a week with tournament games.
No. 20 Granite Hills
Granite Hills dropped their only game of the week, losing 3-2. This brought their record to 5-3 as they enter into tournament play this week.
No. 21 Cardinal Newman
Cardinal Newman won both of their league games and continue their perfect record, leaving the week at 10-0. They have multiple games this week as a part of a tournament.
No. 22 La Costa Canyon
La Costa Canyon won their first two games early in the week by blowout and extra-inning win bringing their record to 8-1. They are kickstarting a tournament that will fill up this week.
No. 23 Hollister
Hollister won all three of their games this week, improving to a perfect 11-0 record. They have two league games this week.
No. 24 Elk Grove
Elk Grove dropped an aggregate score of 24-6 as they swept a league opponent in three games. Their record sits at a near-perfect 12-1 and they will head to San Diego for a tournament this week.
No. 25 Crespi
Crespi lost two out of three against the state No. 1 Notre Dame (Sherman Oaks). On Friday they picked up a well-earned win by a score of 3-1. They have this week off as their record settles at 12-5-3.
