POWER 25 WEEK FIVE REVIEW

No. 1 Notre Dame (Sherman Oaks)

Notre Dame is on a six-game winning streak and in the past week, beating formerly ranked Sierra Canyon while only giving up five runs in the entire three-game series. They will face another past member of the Power 25, Crespi in a three-game series. Their record sits at 14-1.

No. 2 Villa Park

Villa Park lost their first game of the week by a close score of 3-2. They bounced back in their second game with and win and on Saturday shut out Yorba Linda 5-0 bringing their record to 10-2. They have two games in the coming week.

No. 3 Santa Margarita

Santa Margarita swept league opponents Servite with three straight shutouts bringing their record to 11-2. They have only one game this week.

No. 4 Valley Christian (San Jose)

Valley Christian won both of their games only giving up one run in each game. In their Friday game against No. 24 St. Ignatius they won 10-1. Their record is sitting at 10-1 with two games next week against No. 18 Bellarmine and No. 14 Archbishop Mitty.

No. 5 Franklin (Elk Grove)

Franklin won all three of their games this past week with two one-run games. A full slate awaits them with three games as they sit at 10-1.

No. 6 Corona

Corona won their first game of the week on Friday. On Saturday they also won by a score of 5-4 bringing their record to 8-3. A three-game series against formerly ranked Norco awaits them this week.

No. 7 Foothill (Pleasanton)

Foothill lost both of their games, one coming against No. 13 De La Salle. They look to bounce back with two games this week, hoping to boost their now 6-3 record.

No. 8 Aquinas

Aquinas won both of their games with scores of 8-6 and 6-3. Their record sits at 6-1 with a packed tournament schedule this week with the potential for four games.

No. 9 Bonita

Bonita split their two games against league opponent Ayala winning 4-1 and being shut out 8-0. Their record sits at 9-2 with no games this week.

No. 10 South Hills

South Hills won both games this past week, giving up one run over both. They have three games this week and their record sits at 10-2.

No. 11 Whitney

Whitney stayed hot this week, shutting out one team 7-0 and winning another game 5-2. They have a three-game series this week against league opponents. Their record sits at 7-1.

No. 12 Harvard Westlake

Harvard Westlake bounced back from being swept by No. 1 Notre Dame by winning two out of three against league opponents. They have no games this week in prep for a tournament the following week. Their record is now 9-7.

No. 13 De La Salle

De La Sal won both of their games with two commanding performances. Against No. 7 Foothill, they allowed one run while scoring 12, their second game of the week was a similar story, allowing one run while scoring seven. They have two games this week and hold a 7-1 record.

No. 14 Archbishop Mitty

Archbishop Mitty had a huge week, beating No. 18 Bellarmine in extra innings, as well as beating formerly ranked St. Francis (Mountain View). They have anticipated matchups against both No. 4 Valley Christian (San Jose) and No. 24 St. Ignatius. With a record of 11-1 with an important week ahead, Archbishop Mitty could see a big rise in the Power 25 rankings.

No. 15 Orange Lutheran

Orange Lutheran won two of three very close games against Mater Dei. With a series aggregate score of 3-2, both sides had a shutout with the finale ending 2-1. Two out-of-state games await them in the coming week as they sit at 9-6-1. 

No. 16 Etiwanda

In their first action since early March, Etiwanda won both games in a doubleheader and will have four games this week. Their record sits at 5-2.

No. 17 La Mirada

La Mirada won both of their games, one being a 5-0 shutout. This week they have four games with two coming against No. 20 Gahr. Their record stands at 9-2.

No. 18 Bellarmine

Bellarmine lost in a close game against No. 14 Archbishop Mitty in their only game of the week. They face No. 4 Valley Christian (San Jose) and No. 24 St. Ignatius. They hold a 7-2-1 record.

No. 19 JSerra

JSerra swept league opponents this past week and will have only one game next week in an out-of-state tournament. Their record is 7-6 going into the week.

No. 20 Gahr

Gahr won three games in the span of two days and will face No. 17 La Mirada in two games this week. Their record is sitting at 9-2-1.

No. 21 Granada

Granada won one and lost one in their two games in the past week. The Saturday loss came from a 7-0 shutout bringing their record to 7-2. They face three teams this week.

No. 22 Granite Hills

Granite Hills had all of their games rained out but will resume play with two games this week, hoping to add to their 5-1 record.

No. 23 La Costa Canyon

La Costa Canyon only played one game, winning by a score of 3-1 on Saturday. They have a slate of three games this week as their record sits at 6-1.

No. 24 St. Ignatius

St. Ignatius took part in two blowouts this week, winning 15-0 and losing 10-1 against No. 4 Valley Christian (San Jose). They won their Saturday game 6-1 bringing their record to 9-2. They face No. 14 Archbishop Mitty, No. 18 Bellarmine, and formerly ranked St. Francis (Mountain View) this week.

No. 25 Cardinal Newman

Cardinal Newman holds a perfect 8-0 record after winning two games this past week. They have two more league games this week.
