Elk Grove senior RHP/SS Christian Camacho has been named this week’s Porsche Exchange Player of the Week thanks to his outstanding performance on the mound at the plate last week for the Grenadiers.

Camacho, an Auburn recruit and ranked No. 25 in the Illinois 2016 class, has been a huge part of the success this season for Elk Grove, who sits at 11-6 on the season. During the Grenadiers five win week, Camacho picked up two wins on the mound and went 11-for-17 at the plate.

In a victory over Schaumburg on Friday, Camacho turned in his most impressive performance of the week. Camacho twirled a complete game masterpiece picking up the win on the mound. He went seven innings, scattered three hits, no earned runs, no walks and struck out 14. At the plate, the left-handed hitting leadoff hitter went 2-for-4 with two doubles and three runs batted in.

Camacho picked up his first win earlier in the week, on Tuesday against Buffalo Grove, coming out of the bullpen, throwing a scoreless 10^th inning with one strike out and no hits. At the plate he went 0-for-2 with two walks and two runs scored.

In two victories over Rolling Meadows, Camacho went 6-for-8, with two doubles, four runs scored, a walk and a stolen base.

Capping of his week offensively, he went 3-for-3 with the walk off game-winning hit against Maine South on Saturday. Also, added a double and a walk in the 2-1 victory.

For the week Camacho went 11-for-17 at the plate with five doubles, six runs three runs batted in and four walks. On the mound he picked up two wins, going a total of eight innings, surrendering three hits, no earned runs, no walks and struck out 15.

"Christian has consistently been a difference maker all season for our team whether on the mound, at the plate, on the bases, or at shortstop.” said Elk Grove coach Terry Beyna. “In my opinion, the season he is putting together puts him in the conversation as one of the best all-around players currently in our state."

For his efforts, Camacho has been named the Porsche Exchange Player of the Week for the week of April 17 – April 23.
