Players of the Week (Week 1)

Opening Day has come and gone, and the first official week of the Louisiana High School baseball season is complete. Familiar faces continued to shine and newcomers also began to make a name for themselves. Below, we highlight our Mizuno Baseball Player of the Week and Pitcher of the Week from Week one of the season (02/21/22-02/27/22).
We will follow up tomorrow with our 1st week edition of "Diamond Notes", where we take a look at some of the other top performances from around the state. Please note, that all of the below performances are submitted by high school coaches. To submit your player(s) for next week's edition of Diamond Notes, please email Alex Armand ([email protected]) with the player's name, class, position, and any relevant statistics from the week. We are fired up for what's in store in Week 2 and the rest of the season!

Player of the Week
-2023 Hunter Azemar (Southside HS)
Azemar had a dream start to the season, showing off the power early. In 13 at-bats, he managed to hit four homeruns, drive in six, score four times and draw five walks to earn the LA Player of the Week.
Pitcher of the Week
-2022 Owen Schexnaydre (Vandebilt Catholic HS)
Schexnaydrye was solid on the mound through the first week of the season. in thirteen and a third pitched, he managed to punch out twenty five hitters. He scattered nine hits and only three earned on his way to earning the LA Pitcher of the Week.
