Scouting Report
2/24/18 - Steele is a strong and slolid 6-foot-4 230-pound right-handed hitting catcher and first baseman in Kansas’ 2019 class. He ran a 4.69 home to first and has a 93 mph exit velocity. At the plate, showed power the pull gap with ability to drive the ball the other way, simple and repeatable with smooth rhythm, loose and quick hands, consistently found the barrel with hard contact. Behind the plate, pop times between 1.95 to 2.19 seconds, 77 mph positional velocity, short over the top arm slot, slightly staggered feet, quick can clean with transfer and feet, aggressive out of crouch to throw with momentum, throws have carry through the bag and are mostly accurate. On the infield, 80 mph positional velocity, quick to the ball with smooth footwork, quick reverse pivot with short over the top release to second base, fields ball in athletic position, clean exchanges, mostly accurate throws.
