TOP 2013 PROSPECTS FROM TOLEDO OPEN ID

1. Addison Rospert, OF/IF, Port Clinton, Class of 2013
6-foot, 175-pound prospects with plenty of athleticism and raw skills. Registered a 6.78 60-yard dash. Shows potential as an outfielder and an infielder. From the outfield, he reaches a top velocity of 91 mph. In the infield, he shows fluid footwork and soft hands. Needs to correct glove tap prior to fielding the ball. Reaches top velocity of 84 mph with quick, clean transfer. At the plate, he shows balance in his swing. Nice, easy rhythm with small stride and strong lower half.

2. Jordan Grosjean, RHP, Oregon Clay, Class of 2013
6-foot-4, 200-pound right-handed pitcher that is currently committed to Central Michigan. Uses quick arm speed through high ¾ arm slot. Displays long arm action. Delivery requires some effort. Fastball sits 85-87 mph. His curveball fluctuates between 75-80 mph with late, 11/5 break, but doesn’t show good depth. Changeup is thrown near fastball arm speed and sits between 76-81 mph.

3. Wyatt Krupp, LHP/OF, Findlay, Class of 2013
6-foot, 170-pound athletic prospect with plenty of raw skills. Registered a 6.81 60-yard dash. From the outfield, he uses long arm action through a high ¾ arm slot. He reached a top velocity of 83 mph with carry on his throws. At the plate, the left-handed hitter displayed a compact swing with a slight uphill path to the ball. He generated line drives to all fields with opposite field power. On the mound, the southpaw is a bit raw, but shows some potential. His fastball sat at 80-81 mph with natural cut action. His slider ranged between 65-67 mph with 2/8 break. His change up was thrown near fastball arm speed, registering between 61-66 mph with some fade.

4. Reilly Hawkins, OF, Chardon, Class of 2013
6-foot-1, 180-pound outfield prospect with strong, athletic build. Registered a 6.88 60-yard dash from the outfield. Uses long, loose arm action with a quick, clean exchange. Reaches top velocity of 85 mph from the outfield. Plays through the baseball with fluid footwork. At the plate, the left-handed hitter starts with a slightly open stance. Uses a strong, explosive lower half to achieve good torque in his swing. Displays quick bat speed and a fluid rhythm to his swing.

5. Jake Happ, OF/1B, Chardon, Class of 2013
6-foot-4, 190-pound prospect with tall, athletic build. Registered a 6.89 60-yard dash. From the outfield, he uses long arm action through a high ¾ arm slot. Reaches a top velocity of 83 mph through high ¾ arm slot. Shows fluid footwork and quick transfer. At the plate, the right-handed hitter shows some balance in his swing with quick bat speed. Line drive hitter with power to the gaps. Uses rotational mechanics. Tends to get a little stiff at times. Should continue to add power with improved use of lower half.

6. Anthony Rorigi, RHP, Perrysburg, Class of 2013
6-foot-2, 189-pound prospect with tall, solid build. Delivery requires some effort. Fastball sits at 83-84 mph with some arm side run. Curveball is 60-61 mph with gradual 11/5 break. Uses a split finger with some tumble at 60 mph.

7. Austin Rodesky, RHP, Bowling Green, Class of 2013
6-foot-1, 170-pound right-handed pitcher. Lanky, wiry build. Uses quick arm action through a high ¾ arm slot. Delivery requires max effort. Fastball sits 82-84 mph. Curveball is 71-72 mph with 11/5 late spin. Changeup is thrown near fastball arm speed and sits at 77 mph while showing some arm side sink.

1. Dakota Wittenmyer, RHP, Maumee, Class of 2014
6-foot-4, 170-pund right-handed pitching prospect. Uses quick arm speed through a high ¾ arm slot. Delivery requires some effort. Fastball sits 80-83 mph. His curveball sits 66-69 mph with late, 11/5 break. His changeup is thrown near fastball arm speed and sits 70-71 mph.

2. Josh Petersen, RHP, Patrick Henry, Class of 2014
5-foot-11, 170-pound right-handed pitcher with athletic build. Shows an easy, effortless delivery. Fastball sat at 81 mph and topped out at 82 mph. Velocity should increase as he grows and physically develops. Curveball is 65-66 mph with late, 12/6 breaking action and good depth. His changeup needs additional development. Sits 71-74 mph, but lacks command and effective movement.

3. Andrew Chacey, IF/RHP, Licking Valley, Class of 2014
6-foot, 175-pound two-way prospect with athletic build. Registered a 7.31 60-yard dash. Likely projects as a pitcher at the next level. Uses quick arm speed through a high ¾ arm slot. Fastball sits 79-82 mph with arm side run. Curveball is 63-64 mph with late, 12/6 break. Change is straight and sits 70-72 mph. Also uses a 60-62 mph knuckle ball with some tumble. In the field, shows soft hands, but needs to improve his footwork. Registered a top velocity of 77 mph across the infield. At the plate, he uses a closed stance that cuts off the use of his lower half. Shows above average bat speed that generates line drives.

4. Joseph Szymanski, 1B/3B, Maumee, Class of 2014
6-foot-3, 210-pound corner infield prospect with big, thick build. Registered a 7.87 60-yard dash. Shows good actions and anticipations around the bag at first base. At the plate, the right-handed hitter sets up in a crouch. He uses a short stride and smooth load. Create pull power with quick bat speed and explosive lower half.  Potential middle of the order power bat at the next level.

6-foot, 170-pound two-way prospect. Registered a 7.24 60-yard dash time. From the outfield, he shows short arm action through a low ¾ arm slot with a top velocity of 80 mph. At the plate, he starts with an open stance and uses a leg kick trigger. Displays a choppy rhythm to his swing. Shows quick bat speed and downward path to the ball. At the plate, the right-hander shows average arm speed through a ¾ slot. Delivery requires some effort. Fastball sits 78-79 mph. Curveball is 64-67 mph with small bit, but erratic in and out of the zone. Changeup needs additional development as it sits 67-68 mph.

Brandon Mahoney, LHP, Northwood, Class of 2013
6-foot-1, 180-pound left-handed pitching prospect. Uses long, stiff arm action through a high ¾ arm slot. Delivery requires some effort. Fastball sits 77-79 mph with some cut. Uses two breaking balls. Slider is 72-73 mph. Curveball is 69-71 mph. His changeup lacks movement and sits 72-74 mph.

Brett St. Clair, 3B/RHP, Sandusky St. Mary’s, Class of 2014
6-foot-1, 185-pound solid, athletic frame. Registered a 7.72 60-yard dash. Uses short arm action through a high ¾ arm slot. Shows soft hands and average footwork. Needs to quick transfer and exchange. Reached top velocity of 77 mph across the infield. At the plate, he has a tendency to wrap his bat in his load. Shows pull tendencies in his swing. Will improve quality of contact and power as swing shortens up.

Casey Johnson, IF, Toledo St. Francis DeSales, Class of 2015
6-foot, 145-pound two-way prospect with thin frame. Registered a 7.46 60-yard dash. In the field, he shows good anticipation and actions. Uses short arm action through low ¾ arm slot to reach top velocity of 70 mph across the infield. Shows soft hands and quick, clean transfer. At the plate, he starts with a wide stance. Uses a small leg kick to trigger his swing. He is a contact type hitter with a flat path to the ball. Will improve as he physically matures. On the mound, he throws from a high ¾ arm slot with quick arm speed. Delivery requires some effort. His fastball sits 74-75 mph and shows some sink. Curveball is 66-68 mph with 12/6 downward tilt. Changeup (67-70 mph) lacks effective command. Tends to slow down his arm speed.

Chad Kuebler, OF/LHP, Toledo Central Catholic, Class of 2014
5-foot-9, 135-pound two-way prospect with short, athletic build. Registered 7.22 60-yard dash. Uses long arm action through a high ¾ arm slot from the outfield. Reaches top velocity of 78 mph on accurate throws. At the plate, the right-handed hitter shows some balance in his setup. Shows line drive tendencies.  Occasionally, he bars his front arm, which creates some length in his swing. Need to develop physically to enhance his abilities.

Ethan Kirkman, IF, Toledo St. John’s Jesuit, Class of 2014
5-foot-10, 170-pound infield prospect with a left-handed bat. Registered a 7.38 60-yard dash. In the field, he likely projects as a third baseman. Uses short arm action through an over the top arm slot to reach top velocity of 69 mph across the infield. Shows average. Needs to quicken speed of transfer and exchange. At the plate, he starts with a slightly open stance. Uses a short stride and explosive lower half. Line drive type hitter with occasional pop in his bat.

Evan Perkins, OF, Northwood, Class of 2013
5-foot-10, 175-pound outfielder with short, athletic build. Registered a 7.15 60-yard dash. Needs to play through baseball and improve speed of exchange and transfer. Jake Porter, RHP, Elida, Class of 2013
5-foot-8, 135-pound right-handed pitcher with a small, athletic frame. Shows above average arm speed through a high ¾ arm slot. Delivery requires some effort. Fastball is straight and sits 75-77 mph. Commands a 68-71 mph curveball with some downward tilt. Changeup sits 73-74 mph with straight action.

Jason Matcham, RHP, Maumee, Class of 2015
6-foot-3, 165-pound right-handed pitching prospect. Shows average arm speed through high ¾ arm slot. Delivery requires some effort. Fastball sits 70-73 mph. His curveball is 52-53 mph with 12/6 break, but needs to improve overall command consistency. His changeup sits between 69-61 mph.

John Segura, 1B/OF, Northwood, Class of 2013
6-foot-2, 230-pound prospect with big, soft frame. Best suited as a first baseman at the next level. Also worked out in the outfield. Reached a top velocity of 74 mph using a low ¾ arm slot. At the plate, he starts with a slightly open stance. Starts heavy on the back-side load. Shows above average bat speed with pull tendencies in his swing.

Jordan Schell, OF, Northwood, Class of 2013
5-foot-7, 145-pound outfielder. Registered 6.91 60-yard dash. Uses short arm action through low ¾ arm slot. Reaches top velocity of 67 mph from the outfield. Needs to play through the ball and improve quickness of transfer and exchange. At the plate, he uses a leg lift in his swing. Needs to consistently get his foot down to allow hands through the zone. Shows pull tendencies in his swing.

Jordan Spellis, IF, Maumee, Class of 2014
5-foot-10, 175-pound prospect. Registered a 7.70 60-yard dash. Projects as a second baseman. Needs to improve the fluidity of his actions. Reached a top velocity of 75 mph across the infield. At the plate, he starts with a high hand trigger. Feet start closed. Shows some potential with above average bat speed. On the mound, he shows short arm action through a high ¾ arm slot. Fastball sits 76-79 mph. Curveball lacks consistency and sits 58-61 mph. Tends to slow down his arm speed. Split-finger fastball fluctuates between 58-63 mph and shows some tumble.

Kameron Weber, C/OF, Toledo Central Catholic, Class of 2014
5-foot-8, 137-pound catching prospect with short, athletic build. Registered a 7.09 60-yard dash. Uses quick, clean exchange. Stays slow through his throws. Reaches top velocity of 72 mph with accurate throws. Pop time sits 2.15 to 2.25. At the plate, he is a contact hitter with a short, flat path to the ball. Uses a short stride and needs to better incorporate lower half into his swing.

Kody Markowiak, RHP/1B, Toledo Bowsher, Class of 2014
6-foot-2, 185-pound big bodied prospect. Registered 8.19 60-yard dash. Needs to continue developing footwork around the bag at first base. At the plate, the right-handed hitter shows pull tendencies. He has a tendency to open the front side early, which creates some length in his swing. On the mound, the right-hander uses long arm action through an over the top arm slot. His fastball sits at 71 mph while his curveball shows gradual break and sits at 61 mph. His changeup sits at 65 mph.

Kyle Brighton, IF, Evergreen, Class of 2015
5-foot-11, 145-pound infield prospect with thin, lanky build. Registered a 7.69 60-yard dash. Shows long arm action through a low ¾ arm slot. Needs to improve footwork as they tend to be flat and back on the heels. Reaches top velocity of 62 mph across the infield. At the plate, he is a slappy, contact type hitter with a flat bat path. Young prospect that should get physically stronger in time.

Kyle Kern-Blystone, C/OF, Evergreen, Class of 2013
6-foot, 183-pound catching prospect. From the crouch, he reached a top velocity of 67 mph. Uses quick hand to glove exchange, but needs to improve footwork as he loses ground. Pop time is 2.35 to 2.46. From the outfield, he reached a top velocity of 78 mph from the outfield. At the plate, he starts closed and in a crouch. Needs to improve use of lower-half in his swing. Uses short, flat path to the ball with average bat speed.

Lucas Robson, OF/RHP, Oregon Clay, Class of 2013
6-foot, 185-pound two-way prospect with lanky, athletic frame. Registered a 7.09 60-yard dash. Uses long, stiff arm action through high ¾ arm slot in the outfield. Reaches top velocity of 82 mph with carry on his throws. Footwork is fluid and he plays through the ball. At the plate, he starts in a tall, stiff stance. Shows some strength in his hands. Needs to clean up lower-half actions to improve his swing. On the mound, the right-handed hitter sits 78-81 mph. He uses a slow tempo with long arm action. His breaking ball sits 69-70 mph with 11/5 break. His changeup is 70-72 mph with some fade, but he tends to slow down his arm speed.

Matt Brighton, 3B/1B, Evergreen, Class of 2013

5-foot-9, 160-pound two-way prospect with short, athletic build. Registered an 8.02 60-yard dash. Shows some athleticism around the bag at first base. At the plate, he displays a heavy load on the backside. Uses a short stride along with a short bat path to the ball. Contact type hitter at this stage that needs to get physically stronger. On the mound, the southpaw shows average arm speed through a ¾ arm slot. Shows a 68-70 mph fastball along with a 61 mph curveball with 2/8 break. His changeup (61-63 mph) needs development.

Noah Skladan, LHP, Amherst Steele, Class of 2014
6-foot-2, 142-pound southpaw with tall, lanky build. Uses quick arm speed through high ¾ arm slot. Fastball shows some natural cut and sits 75-78 mph. Curveball is 52-57 mph. Shows gradual 1/7 break, but lacks consistent command. Change up is 53-55 mph.

Nolan Rodman, OF/C, Findlay, Class of 2014
5-foot-10, 160-pound outfield prospect. Registered a 7.23 60-yard dash. Displays short, over the top arm action from the outfield. Reaches a top velocity of 76 mph. At the plate, the right-handed hitter sets up in an open stance. He uses a short stride with rotational mechanics. He takes a slight uphill path to the ball and shows a line drive type swing.

Rob Tyrrell, C, Bowling Green, Class of 2013
6-foot, 160-pound catching prospect. Registered a 7.27 60-yard dash. From the crouch, he reached a top velocity of 72 mph. Sets up in a low stance and gets tall through release. Needs to improve hand to glove exchange.  Pop times sit 2.41 to 2.67. At the plate, he shows rotational mechanics. Displays a lot of pre-swing movement in his load. Reaches top velocity of 66 mph across the infield. Tends to have flat feet. Needs to improve fluidity and play through the ball.
