The 2014 Major League Draft takes place June 5-7. It will begin Thursday evening at 7 p.m. EST with the first day consisting of the first two rounds and competitive balance rounds. The third through 10th rounds will take place on Friday and Rounds 11-40 will happen Saturday. The final two days will start at 1 p.m. EST. In advance of the draft, Prep Baseball Report is posting a summary of each state in the coverage area with scouting reports on the top high school draft prospects.

Pennsylvania’s 2014 draft class has ridden a roller coaster over the past several months with prospects rotating at the top. Signability muddies the outlook with two players committed to programs that rarely see their recruits lured to pro ball—RHP Colton Hock (Stanford) and SS Liam Sabino (Vanderbilt). McKay and Matijevic have the best chance to go in the top 10 rounds, but they are also committed to strong programs and would likely have to be drafted higher than where they are slotted on talent to warrant signing.

Draftitis is a term thrown around in the scouting industry, accounting for poor performance leading up to the draft. There isn’t a word for the opposite end of the spectrum, but McKay is doing it. Even with radar guns pointed at him at every start, McKay chased a national record that has stood for 40 years. He ultimately fell short, having pitched 72 2/3 consecutive scoreless innings, dating back to the 2013 season.
