Penn Charter's Joe Lancellotti Named PBR Pennsylvania Player of the Year
June 15, 2017
The 2017 high school season yielded many stellar individual performances across all corners of Pennsylvania. But one player stood above the rest: Joe Lancellotti.
Lancellotti, a senior right-handed pitcher/outfielder from William Penn Charter School, delivered a statistically dominant season while helping lead his team to a 25-2 record and the Inter-Academic League championship.
The 5-foot-11, 205-pound Lancellotti went 7-1 on the mound with a 0.29 ERA while registering 86 strikeouts in 46.2 innings of work. Offensively he was nearly as impressive hitting .487 with 10 home runs. Lancellotti drove in 40 runs and scored 25 times. Lancellotti is a University of North Carolina recruit.
Lancellotti’s all-around performance has earned him the 2017 Prep Baseball Report Pennsylvania Player of the Year honors.
Lancellotti edged out a highly competitive field of candidates, selected by Pennsylvania Scouting Director Greg Williams and his team of area scouts who covered the season throughout the spring. Player of the Year nominations are provided by high school coaches across the state. Player of the Year criteria includes, but not limited to, on-field production and positive character qualities that represent the state.
