PBR OK will be covering the PGBA Invitational at OU for the 15U-17U age groups all weekend long. This Diamond King Tournament features some of the best summer travel teams from across the country as well as the top teams in OK. Each day, we will release scout notes on the top performers in each game. Top performers are players who show outstanding physical ability and produce in the game. Here are the notes from every game PBR OK attended each of the four days.
Day 1
OK Sandlot 16U Ritter vs. OK Fuel 16U

Alex Bighorse, RHP, Bixby HS (2018)- A 5-foot-7, 130-pound developing frame. Works from an up-tempo delivery with a high leg kick. Arm action is loose, fluid, and quick out front, coming through a low-3/4 slot. Fastball shows late heavy arm side run with some sink at 77-80 mph, well commanded to both sides of the dish. Slider sits 72-73 mph with tight spin, late depth, and 10/4 shape. Also shows a curveball with depth at 63-64 mph with 11/5 shape. Gave up only one run through six innings on an in the park HR after an outfielder dove.
Payton Miller, C, Yukon HS (2019)- The Oklahoma recruit stands 6-foot-2, 210-pounds. The right-handed hitter barreled a few balls and showed strength especially on a hard line out to left. Really shines behind the dish as an above average receiver and blocker with elite arm strength, throwing a runner out from his knees with ease. Ran a 5.18 home-to-first.
OK Fule
Sam Thompson, OF, Owasso HS (2019)- A 6-foot, 190-pound muscular frame packed with strength and speed. The left-handed hitter shows quick and strong hands at the plate with a pull approach, swing is a bit in an out of the zone. Hit a go ahead three run home run in the top of the seventh to left field. Shows confident actions in the outfield with advanced arm strength.
Alan Shibley, SS, Sapulpa HS (2019)- A 6-foot, 170-pound lean and projectable frame. The left handed hitter bats from a balanced, athletic, set-up with bend in his knees and rhythm in his hands. Takes a soft moderate stride with a simple load. Shows a flat middle of the field approach, collecting two hits on ground balls through the middle of the field. Defensively, shows clean actions and the ability to consistently make average plays.

Cooper McMurray, LHP/1B, Bishop Kelley HS (2020)- A 6-foot-2, 210-pound advanced frame with some strength. On the mound, the left-hander uses an average tempo delivery with a high-3/4 slot. Fastball ranges 74-77 mph and flashes late run, consistently around the zone. Breaking balls shows lose spin, 63-64 mph, 12/6 shape. Threw a quick scoreless three innings. A the dish, the left-handed hitter has a back leg heavy set up with an arm-bar load and moderate stride. The swing has some length and strength.

Seth Stacey, LHP, Tahlequah HS (2020)- A 6-foot-1, 190-pound broad shouldered frame. The left-hander works from an average tempo delivery with a short front side and a quick arm out front. Varies between a nearly side arm slot and a true 3/4 slot. Fastball flashes some run, 79-83 mph. Changeup shows some fade and sink when down in the zone 73-75 mph. Breaking ball shows 1/7 shape with some depth , hangs at times. Stacey held his velo and threw more strikes as his six inning outing progressed. Gave up just one run.
Gabe Williams, OF, Washington HS (2020)- A 6-foot-2, 182-pound frame with strength. The right-handed hitter sets-up with a wide load load and rhythm in his hands. Uses a reverse toe-tap and moderate stride with a arm-bar load. Shows advanced hand strength and bat speed with a middle-pull approach. Was a foot short of leaving the yard at OU, doubling off the wall.
SWE 15U
Dillon Fisher, LHP, Cedar Park (2020)-A 6-foot, 160-pound lean frame with room to add strength. The left-hander works with good tempo, a drop and drive back side, and an over the top arm slot. Creates some deception working from the far first base side of the rubber and throwing with downhill tilt. Fastball sits 76-77 mph. Curveball shows some depth 66-68 with 1/7 shape. Gave up one run in two innings of work.
Collin Everitt, 1B/3B, Henderson HS (2020)- A 5-foot-10, 180-pound broad frame with strength. The right-handed hitter bats from an open crouched set-up with some rhythm in his hands. Uses a simple load, strides slightly open, short to the ball with quick hands, some bat speed and strength. Tripled on a well struck ball to right field.

Sandlot 16U B.Wrona vs. C3 Futures 16U

Hayden Minton, RHP, Collinsville HS (2019)- A 6-foot-2, 170-pound lean frame with long limbs and lot of room to add size and strength. Works from a average tempo delivery with a quick arm circle coming through a high-3/4 slot. Fastball flashes cut at 80-83 mph. Slider ranged 70-74 mph with consistent 11/5 shape with depth and tight spin. Shows above command of both pitches. Went 6 shutout innings.
Futures
Jace Estes, OF, Keller Central HS (2019)- A 6-foot, 210-pound muscular frame with strength. The right-handed hitter bats from a back leg heavy crouch, simple load and small stride. Shows a middle to pull line drive approach with bat speed and strength. Stung a double to left center. Average runner on the bases. In the outfield, takes average routes and shows some accuracy on throws.

Tucker Dunlap, C, Broken Arrow HS (2018)- A very lean and muscular 5-foot-10, 185-pound frame with strength throughout. Offensively, a middle of the order type bat with a middle of the field, flat approach with some pop. Hits from a back leg heavy set up, starts his hands in front of his chest, bat path is flat through contact, stays in the zone a long time. Defensively, a good receiver of the baseball, steady behind the plate, an above average blocker and arm. In the game, hammered a double to the pull gap and lined out to center.

Cameron Bush, RHP, Round Rock HS (2018)- A 6-foot, 160-pounds lean frame.The right-hander works with a smooth and slightly up-tempo delivery. Throws with a full, clean, and loose arm circle, coming through a 3/4 slot with average to below average effort. Fastball flashes arm side run, ranged 81-85 and touched an 87. Slider sat 70-73 with 11/5 shape flashed tight spin and late depth.
John Dominquez, RHP, Rouse HS (2018)-A lean 5-foot-10, 160-pound frame with long limbs. Works from an average tempo delivery with a high leg kick and a rotational load before he comes to the dish. Throws with a lose and clean arm action coming through a 3/4 slot with above average effort. Fastball keeps it plane at 83-86. Slider was firm with short and late 10-4 action 77-79 mph.
Ethan Ruiz, 2B, Cedar Ridge HS (2018)-A stocky 5-foot-8 170-pound frame with some strength. The right-handed hitter bats from a balanced athletic stance. Shows quick hands with a middle to pull line drive approach with some pop. Shows quick feet at second base with soft hands and confident actions. Drove a double off the left center field wall.

Joe Balak, RHP/INF, Moore HS (2018)- A broad shouldered 6-foot, 210-pound frame with strength. The right-handed hitter is short to the ball with a flat path with strength and some bat speed. Balak pulled a double down the line and hit another ball hard to dead center. The big right-hander also tossed a complete on the mound, featuring a knuckle ball.

Colton Hunter, Util., Leedey HS (2018)- A 5-foot-11, 180-pound proportional frame with some strength. Offensively, the right-handed hitter bats from a relaxed, upright, and open set-up. Uses a moderate hanging leg kick for timing, has loose hands, short to the ball with bat speed. In the game, Hunter had three hits with 4 RBI’s including a double an home run to left. Defensively, moves well at first base with good hands and a well above average arm.
Holden Hopkins, LHP, Norman North HS (2018)- The long 6-foot-5, 195-pound lefty that is getting stronger and showing more athleticism every day. Hopkins works only out of the stretch, leaning back and dropping into his back side before coming to the dish. Uses a long and clean arm circle coming through a 3/4 slot. Fastball ranges 83-87 mph. with downhill tilt, angle from the first base side, with some run and sink. Slider has 2/8 shape with sweeping action at 75-78 mph. The lefty pounded the zone, striking out two and getting a ground ball in his one inning of work.
Mizuno
Javan Smitherman, RHP, Kilgore (2018)-A Dallas Baptist recruit. Not the typical frame of a power pitcher, but Smitherman’s athletism and quick arm action make up for any lack of side. The fastball keeps it’s plane and gets on hitters quickly at 86-90 mph. Curveball is still developing, 11/5 shape 74-75 mph.
Trea'drick Clayton, OF, Kilgore (2018)-Offensively, the right-handed batter hits from a balanced athletic stance with rhythm. Uses a big hanging leg kick for timing. Shows very quick hands and above average pop especially for his size. High end runner, 4.33 on the turn to second. In the outfield, takes good routs with closing speed, average arm with accuracy.

Parker Powell, C, Southmoore HS (2020)-A 5-foot-8, 160-pound build with some strength. Offensively, a right-handed hitter, middle of the field line drive approach with occasional lift. Hits from a slightly closed set-up, knee-knock load, slight arm-bar, quick hands, some bat speed, high finish. Blasted a homer run to left in the game. Defensively, throws from a high-3/4 slot, 2.05-2.19 between innings pop, violent throw.

Pierce Plummer, RHP/INF, Broken Arrow HS (2020)- A 5-foot-9, 165-pound proportional frame. Offensively, the right handed-hitter poses a short stroke with quick hands and some bat speed. Uses a line dirve, middle to pull approach at the dish. In the game, Plummer went 2-for-3 with a double and 2 RBI’s. On the mound, Plummer drops and dives to the dish in a controlled delivery, with a long arm action with some stiffness coming through a high-3/4 slot. Fastball sits 75-76 with heavy and late arm side run. Curveball shows big 11/5 shape at 65-66 mph.

MWE 16U Savage Vs Fuel 16U

Kale Davis, RHP, Mustang HS (2019)- A 6-foot-4, 210-pound athletic build, long limbs, proportional strength. On the mound, fluid up-temp and athletic delivery with good rhythm, and an over the top slot. Fastball shows some downhill action when down in the zone at 84-88 mph. Curveball has 12/6 shape with good depth at 71-73 mph. Slider has late 10/2 action with enough depth to be a legitimate put away pitch at the next level at 75-78 mph. Davis went six innings, giving up two hits, striking out four, walking three and allowing no runs.
Carson Funkhouser, 3B, Fletcher HS (2019)- A 6-foot-4, 210-pound physically advanced frame, broad shoulders and strength. Offensively, a right-handed hitter, uses a gap to gap approach with lift. Hits from a balanced, athletic stance, slight leg kick, some length, strong hands, good extension, easy pop. Hit a towering home run in the game. Defensively, shows a strong accurate arm from third base with enough range to make most plays, may profile better as a defensively skilled first baseman at the next level.
Fuel
Derek Bridges, LHP, Duncan HS (2019)- A 6-foot-1, 190-pound durable frame with broad shoulders and some strength throughout. Works from an above average tempo and smooth delivery. Arm slings through a low-¾ slot with looseness. Fastballs shows lots of angle coming from the first base side with some run at 79-82 mph. Still developing the slider that flashes some sweeping action and late life at 68-70 mph. In the game, allowed two runs on six hits and one walk while punching out five in seven innings.

Kaden Marshal, OF, Deer Creek HS (2019)- A 6-foot-3, 205-pound muscular, athletic build. Offensively, right-handed hitter, middle-pull, flat approach, flashes big pop from bat speed and raw hand strength. Athletic set-up with rhythm, smooth and prominent load, slight leg lift, flat path to contact with a high finish. Had a line drive single and two RBI’s in the game. Defensively, actions are raw and aggressive.

Samson Hudson, OF, Denton HS (2019)- A 6-foot-1, 180-pound muscular build with some strength. Offensively, a left-handed hitter who bats from a balanced, open stance with rhythm in his hands, uses an hanging leg kick for timing. Hits with a middle opposite field approach, some lift. Had a three RBI triple and a walk in the game.

Austin Roccaforte, Util, Tomball Memorial HS (2019)- A developing frame around 5-foot-9, 155-pounds. Offensively, the right-handed hitter bats from a slightly open stance with a flat path and middle of the field approach. Had two hits in the game from the lead-off slot including a three RBI inside the park home run to left center.
Savage
Chance Westervelt, C, Westmoore HS (2019)- A 5-foot-11, 185-pound strong, muscular build, defined lower half. Offensively, right-handed hitter, all fields approach, strong hands. Upright stance, high hands, big leg kick, moderate stride, short to contact, flat, on plane through contact. Defensively, good exchanges, quick feet, a strong arm, and developing hands.

Karsten Menard, INF,Edmond North HS (2019)-A 5-foot-6, 150-pound quick twitch athlete. Offensively, the right-handed hitter bats from a balanced, upright, and relaxed stance with rhythm in his hands. Uses a flat path and shows the ability to hit to all fields. Defensively, posses quick feet, above average hands, and an accurate arm with above average strength and carry. Had two hits in the game.
Canes
Kasen Handal, OF, Tomball HS (2019)- An average build with some strength throughout. Offensively, the right-handed hitter showed a short and consistent stroke with a middle of the field, line drive approach out of the lead-off spot. In center-field, got impressive reads and took good routes to the ball with above average speed. Had a hit in the game.

Cash Balentine, LHP, Wister HS (2018)- A 5-foot-8, 150-pound proportional build. Works from the stretch, up-tempo delivery, high leg kick, big arm circle, 3/4 slot, and a loose arm. Fastball sat 80-82, flashes late arm-side run. Curveball shows late tight spin with slurve action and 1/7 shape, 68-70 mph. Changeup had some fade, 69 mph. All three pitches for strikes. Balentine came on in relief with the tying run at third and struck out the side to end the game.
Lions
A.J. Moore, RHP/3B, Moore HS (2018)- A 6-foot, 194-pound frame with strength. Offensively, the right-handed hitter bats from an upright balanced stance, small load, moderate stride, quick hands, and strength. Shows a pull approach with some lift. On the mound, shows a very big arm circle getting long behind him before working uphill and then back down in his delivery with a high-¾ slot. Fastball ranged 79-84. Curveball showed 11/5 shape at 71-73 with depth. Hit a double off the wall in the game.

Blake Robertson, RHP/3B, Edmond Santa Fe HS (2019)- A 6-foot-4, 183-pound frame, very long limbs, and wiry strength with plenty of room to add size and strength. Offensively, a left-handed hitter, line drive approach, showed pop to all fields. Hits from a slightly open, knock-kneed, balanced set-up. Short and flat to the ball, high finish, shows bat speed and hand strength. On the mound, uses an very simple, abbreviated, side-on wind-up. Throws from a ¾ slot with full and loose are circle that will gain strength as Robertson fills out. Fastball keeps its plane, at 83-84 and touches 85. Slider is short at times, but will show depth with 10/4 shape at 77-79 mph. Changeup shows advanced depth and fade at times, 76-77 mph. An advanced strike thrower. In the game, gave up two early runs then threw up five consecutive zeros.
Canes
Christian McCoy, RHP, Tomball HS (2019)- Around 6-foot-3, 190-pound frame with long arms. Works from an athletic, slightly up-tempo delivery with a big arm circle that extends towards first base, coming through in a ¾ slot with some looseness. Fastball sits 83-85 and touches 86 mph. Breaking ball shows slurve shape at 70-72 mph. In the game, held an elite young offense scoreless through five.

Conner Beichler, SS, Owasso HS (2019) - A 5-foot-10, 155-pound quick twitch athlete with wiry strength. Defensively, shows advanced feet, soft and consistent hands, and an excellent clock. Shows the ability to throw from multiple slots with some arm strength, carry, and accuracy. Offensively, the switch hitter shows a short and simple stroke with a flat bat path and middle of the field approach from both side, currently more polished with more pop from the right-side. Gets out of the box and down the line very well, with ability to take an extra base.

Bryce Weisinger, OF/RHP, Lake Travis HS (2018)- A 6-foot-2, 160-pound long and athletic frame with quick twitch actions. Offensively, the right-handed batter hits from a balanced, relaxed, slightly open set-up with a slight crouch and the bat resting on his shoulder. Takes a short stride with a slight leg lift and uses a small load. Swing is very short and compact to the ball, showing an all fields approach. Weisinger is an elite runner on the bases and in the outfield. Defensively, gets good jumps, takes excellent routes, and shows high end closing speed. The arm strength is advanced with accuracy and carry. Had an RBI double and a web gem in the game.
Kyle Hawkins, Util, Round Rock HS (2018)- A 5-foot-11, 170-pound lean frame. Offensively, the left-handed hitter bats from a wide, knock-kneed stance, uses a knee-knock leg kick for timing. Shows a middle to pull approach with some lift. Had an RBI double and RBI single to tie the game late for SWE. Defensively, made a web gem at third base an showed a high IQ.

Jace Piepkorn, SS/OF, Colvis HS (2018)- A 6-foot, 160-pound lean frame. Offensively, the right-handed hitter bats from a balanced, slightly open set-up with rhythm in his hands. Takes a short strike and is short to the ball with a flat path, showing an all fields approach. An above average runner. Played centerfield in this one, showing confident actions and athleticism.
Sandlot Ritter 16U vs Sandlot Wrona 16U

Bryce Osmond, SS/RHP, Jenks HS (2019) -An Oklahoma State commit. A 6-foot-2, 170-pound long and athletic frame. Offensively, the right-handed hitter bats from a back leg heavy set-up with rhythm in his hands and uses a slight knee-knock leg kick to load. Shows a slightly uphill bat path with a middle to pull approach with bat speed, leverage, good hand eye. Very good runner. Defensively, Osmond played third in this one, showing excellent feet, soft hands, advanced range, and an accurate, elite arm with carry. Shows all the tools to play SS at the next level.
Wrona
James Dunlap, SS/RHP, Bishop Kelley HS (2019) - A 6-foot-1, 165-pound proportional build. Offensively, the right-handed batter hits from a relaxed, upright, slightly open, back leg heavy set-up. Uses a smooth load and moderate stride with a slightly up hill bat path. Defensively, shows bouncy actions with above average hands and feet. Throws from multiple slots with arm strength and accuracy. On the mound, use a simple and deliberate delivery. Arm action is short and clean coming through a high-3/4 slot with quickness. Fastball keeps its plane at 82-83 and touches 84 mph. Curveball shows big 12/6 shape at 61-62 mph. Changeup shows fade at 71-72 mph. Consistent strikes.

Jon Bay, Util, Shattuck HS (2020) – A 5-foot-11, 165-pound athletic frame with some strength. Offensively, the right-handed batter hits from a slightly open, athletic set-up with rhythm in his hands and uses a leg kick for timing. Shows a middle to pull approach with some lift and strength in his swing. Had an RBI double off the left-center field wall in the game. Defensively, played third base in this one, showing advanced hands and arm strength along with developing footwork.
Jace Bohrofen, OF, Westmoore HS (2020) - A 6-foot-1, 175-pound physically advanced build with strength. Offensively, a left-handed hitter with an all fields, line drive approach with pop. Hits from an upright, relaxed, balanced set-up, hands have good rhythm in front of his chest. Uses a small load, moderate stride, and shows off very quick hands, flat to contact with a high finish, creates consistent backspin. Hit an opposite field double in the game. Defensively, shows confident and clean actions in the outfield.
Colts
Korson Hasting, 1B, Churchill HS (2020) – A physically advanced frame with some strength. Offensively, the left-handed hitter bats from an open, back leg heavy set-up with rhythm in his hands and uses moderate leg kick load. Hasting is very short to the ball and keeps the bat in the zone for a long time, allowing him to hit to all fields with some pop. Had an RBI single in the game, and made hard contact in multiple at bats.
Cole Mixon, C, Kerrville HS (2020) - A physically advance 6-foot, 180-pound frame. Defensively, stands out behind the plate as an above average receiver with a clean transfer and strong arm with accuracy. Threw out two would be base stealers in the game. Offensively, the right-handed hitter shows strength in the box. Had two hits in the game, including a game winning 2 RBI double.
