One of the top 2018 recruits in the country, RHP Carter Stewart (Eau Gallie HS, FL), is off the board after recently committing to Mississippi State. Stewart has excellent upside with a 6-foot-5, 190-pound frame and athleticism. He sat 87-89 mph with his fastball for the Central Florida Gators in Jupiter and can spin a curveball with depth at 73-75. He is ranked No. 10 in Florida and No. 22 in the 2018 Overall Rankings. Back in August, as scouts filtered out and college recruiters filtered in, attention in Long Beach, CA, shifted from the senior class to the next line of prospects. The underclass segment of the Area Code Games was underway and it didn’t take long for a Texas product to stand out. Though he was already committed, SS Bobby Witt Jr. (Colleyville Heritage HS, TX) commanded attention. The Oklahoma recruit went 4-for-4 in the first game and finished 8-for-19. Read more >>
