FINAL 2017 OVERALL RANKINGS RELEASED
By Sean Duncan
Executive Director
Farewell, Class of 2017.
It’s been a pleasure scouting you for the last four years. But now that the 2017 MLB Amateur Draft has passed, it’s time to officially close the books on this richly deep and talented class with our final Top 400 Class of 2017 Overall Rankings.
It’s important to note that our overall rankings only includes prospects within the Prep Baseball Report 34-state coverage area, and therefore differs from the PBR Draft 100. It’s also important to note that where players were selected in the draft didn’t affect the rankings order, as players slide and climb due to signability considerations, among other factors.

THE BUZZ: TOP PROSPECTS DE-COMMIT
By Nathan Rode
National Supervisor
Not long before the 2017 MLB Draft started Monday night, big news dropped in the recruiting world. SS Bobby Witt Jr. (Colleyville Heritage HS, TX) de-committed from Oklahoma, citing the departure of head coach Pete Hughes. Witt is the top prospect in the Class of 2019 and son of former major leaguer Bobby Witt. He has lightning-quick hands at the plate, allowing him to punish the baseball.
OHIO INSIDER: MOORE THAN EXCITED ABOUT HIS FUTURE
Bruce Hefflinger
PBR Ohio
AMHERST – Not being selected on the first two days of the 2017 Major League Baseball Draft was only a little discouraging for Xavier Moore.
After all, the Amherst Steele High School product, already with a scholarship to play at Ohio State, knew what was ahead in his future.
Those plans became official when Moore was chosen in the 16th round on day three of the draft by the Texas Rangers.
“It was a numbing feeling you can't describe,” Moore said of the realization of being a draft selection. “To hear your name was called, I was speechless in the moment.”
RECRUITING ESSENTIALS: MLB DRAFT
By Brandon Hall
North Carolina Director of Scouting
The MLB Draft… a wonderful time of year where dreams can be made and reality can set in. While there are players that have their dream fulfilled, many players are left to wonder what they have to do next to accomplish their goals. Players, coaches, and even scouts will scour through the draft cast, questioning decisions and wondering how a player dropped as far as he did, when the talent is obviously unmatched.
