Venice, FL- In the final portion of the Florida Burn tryouts for the 2017 summer season, players from the 2018-2020 classes were in attendance for bullpen sessions at Venice high school. Below are the reports on players who were in attendance on January 28th and had the PBR Upgrade.

Dalton Plattner, LHP, Cardinal Mooney (2018)
The 6-foot-4, 170 pound left handed pitcher pitched done in the zone with a fastball ranging from 76-77. He also showed a feel for a curveball and changeup. He shows a short arm action with an up-tempo delivery. A thin frame with room to grow, he could make a nice jump with some present feel for three pitches.

Brennan Haire, RHP, Santa Fe (2019)
The 6-foot, 220-pound right handed pitcher has a simple delivery with a short arm action. Lands  in line and has a good tempo. Worked down in the zone with a fastball ranging from 77-78 mph. Also showed a feel for a changeup at 70 mph and a curveball at 65 mph. Sound delivery and arm action and will continue to improve as he continues to log innings.

Hunter Bogumil, RHP, Out of Door Academy (2018)
The 6-foot-4, 170-pound right handed pitcher has a slender pitcher frame with room to grow. He tends to have a short stride and land a bit closed, but the arm works clean from a high ¾ slot. He showed a fastball that ranged from 76-80 mph and a curveball from 68-70 and a changeup from 70-72 mph. The arm action works and the frame really projects. Will have a chance to make a jump in velocity with better stride and use of the lower half.

Orion Kerkering, RHP, Venice (2019)
The 6-foot, 165-pound right handed pitcher shows a short quick arm action with clean arm swing in the back. The fastball come out of the hand well and ranged from 82-85 mph. Also showed feel for a changeup that ranged from 67-69 mph. He got around the curveball at times, but had quality shape at 64-66 mph. With a simple, sound delivery and good lower half the arm action works and velocity will jump with strength and innings. Offspeed will also improve with added innings.

Braden Halladay, RHP, Calvary Christian (2019)
The 6-foot-1, 145-pound right handed pitcher has an athletic frame with a short half circle arm swing. Landing slightly cross-fired, the fastball ranged from 76-77 mph. He also showed a curveball at 63 and a changeup at 65 mph. He can get under the curve ball at times. There is plenty of room to fill out and as he throws more innings and gets better drive from the lower half with more extension the velocity should make a jump.

Miles Thompson, RHP, Santa Fe Catholic (2019)
The 6-foot-1, 170-pound right handed pitcher throws from a high ¾ slot, shows a quick arm and athleticism. The fastball ranged from 81-82 mph with some life. He also showed a changeup of 65 mph and a curveball at 64 mph. There is some twitchiness and the arm action works. He doesn’t get much leg drive off of the rubber. As he learns to use his lower half, with present athleticism, the velocity should make a jump.

Bradley Skinner, LHP, Venice (2018)
The 6-foot, 185-pound left handed pitcher throws from a ¾ slot with some whip in the arm action. The fastball ranges from 80-82 mph with some arm side life. He also showed a changeup at 73 mph and a curveball at 70 mph. The arm action works, but tends to fall off the side of the mound. Throws somewhat upright and could benefit from extension and stay in line which could result in a velocity jump. Quality arm with some deception and potential.

Kai Boyd, LHP, Olympia (2018)
The 6-foot-1, 180-pound left handed pitcher has a short arm action. Lands in line with a drop and drive delivery. Fastball ranged from 70-73 mph. Curveball sat at 58 mph. Changeup sat at 65 mph. He has a strong lower half and shows some athleticism.

Corey Armstrong, RHP, Santa Fe Catholic (2019)
The 6-foot, 150-pound right handed pitcher has a thin, projectable frame. Throwing from a sidearm slot the fastball has some arm side run ranging from 68-72. Also showed a sweeping slider at 63 mph and a changeup at 68 mph. From a true sidearm slot, there is deception especially to right handed hitters. He tends to land a little open which looses the lower half some, but projects to fill out and the velocity should jump.

Thomas Lemmerman, RHP, Bishop Verot (2019)
The 5-foot-10, 150-pound right handed pitcher shows an up-tempo, quick twitch motion. Arm is a little long and throws from a high ¾ slot which creates a quality angle on the fastball which shows some life at 82-83 mph. He showed a feel for a changeup at 78 mph. Also showed a curveball at 68 mph that he gets around at times. There is a lot of athleticism and the arm is quick and projects to throw harder.

Kyle Machado, RHP, Charlotte (2019)
FGCU recruit. The 6-foot-3, 190-pound right handed pitcher has a high waist and projectable pitcher’s frame. From a ¾ slot, he has a clean arm action and the fastball comes out of the hand well with late life and sat in the 84-86 mph range with more to come. The slider showed a quality shape at 67-68 mph. Also showed a feel for a changeup at 70 mph. Overall, a very projectable frame with clean arm action and room to grow. Will be a very intriguing to follow the next three years.

Charlie McGonigal, RHP, Sarasota (2020)
The 5-foot-8, 160 pound right handed pitcher throws from an over-the-top arm action with a fastball that ranged from 74-77 mph. Throwing solely from the stretch, with a drop and drive delivery, there is some present arm speed. He also showed a cutter at 61 mph and a changeup at 65 mph. Overall there is some present tools and feel for pitching that will continue to improve with innings and strength.

Garrett Boeckle, RHP, Berkeley Prep (2020)
The 5-foot-10, 180-pound right handed pitcher has a stocky and strong frame. With a short, quick arm action he showed a fastball that ranged from 80-83 mph with some arm side life. He showed the ability to spin the breaking ball with a present above average pitch at 70 mph with 11-5 action and the potential to be a plus pitch. He also showed a changeup at 71 mph. An athletic, quick arm and ability to spin a breaking ball will make him a very interesting follow.
