PBR ProCase - West: C/1B Ian Haines
June 23, 2023
The PBR ProCase - West was an Invite Only event for the top draft prospect in California, Arizona, Nevada and Utah’s 2024 and 2025 Classes that will feature a Pro-Style Workout with Live Game Play to follow at the University of Southern California on Sunday, June 4, 2023. This event will serve as the final identifier for the inaugural 2023 PBR All-American Game where the top 2024 and 2025 prospects from around the country will go head to head in Milwaukee, Wisconsin at American Family Field.
This event featured the complete Prep Baseball Report Tech Package that includes a Vizual Edge assessment, TrackMan Pitching / Hitting Analysis and Blast Motion In-Swing Analysis. The technology used at the PBR ProCase - West parallels the technology used by professional teams to monitor and evaluation performance within their own organizations and has become a streamlining feature in the evaluation of amateur athletes compared to players currently in their system.
We continue our PBR ProCase Highlight series with Arizona's second-ranked catcher in the 2024 class and one of the top uncommitted, C/1B Ian Haines of Millennium HS.

Scouting Report
Ian Haines continues to open eyes with his ability as an offensive catcher. Above average athleticism for the position. High waisted build with room for added strength. His catch and throw ability stands above the rest. Posted Arizona's top pop time (1.94) and C velo (78). The ball stays very true to 2B with accuracy and a quick and clean transition. Haines has bat speed and is consistent with the barrel. Has some pull side pop with high % of LD contact. Gets to the front side during swing, as reps and strength continue to come, his hit tool could be among the top of the catchers on the west coast along with the catch and throw. Receiving ability is there, soft hands and ability to manipulate the baseball.
5-foot-11 180 pounds, projectable frame at the C position. High waist with strength throughout. Arm showed to be an advanced tool. (Running) 7.18 runner in the 60. Moves very well for C. (Offense) RH. Max EV 95. Max Dist. 353. Good box presence, stands taller with base just outside of shoulder width and slightly open. Hands held just above the shoulder with a flat bat angle. Slightly pushy with the stride, could get into legs more. Stride is direct, weight travels forward. Has some bat speed and a violent swing. Gets to the inner half of the ball well, has some power potential. Has some swing and miss in game. Quieting down the actions and shortening stride could limit chase/swing and miss. Consistent hard contact to the middle/pull side gap.
