February 28, 2022
As we quickly approach the Spring Season, the PBR Nevada staff has updated the 2024 Class Rankings. We continue our coverage of the 2024 class with a Top 50 rankings list that will continue to group with the next update coming at the beginning of Summer. We are eager to continue following and reporting the development of the group with our "boots on the ground" mentality, committed to providing the most credible and up-to-date information for all things amateur baseball in the Silver State. Players in Nevada are evaluated by PBR Staff at high school and games, tournaments around the Valley, showcases/events, as well as our PBR Showcases. Evaluations are not limited to just PBR Staff, we often are in touch with college recruiters, pro scouts, and local high school and club coaches. All player recommendations are taken into consideration, and all lists are subject to change as we continue to be "hyper local" while delivering a national presence for all things Nevada.
If you feel you deserve to be on this list or positioned differently, feel free to tag us on social media with highlights/game film. Those videos will be seen, and we aim to always be accurate in our reporting. Events through the summer and fall will also be held, where you can get in front of PBR Staff so we can get to know more about you. These lists are constantly changing as players continue to develop, and we promise that we will never stop being out and evaluating.
PBR PLAYER RANKINGS: 2024 CLASS
Ty Southisene SS / RHP / Basic , NV / 2024Southisene committed to the University of Tennessee shortly after the conclusion of the 2021 Future Games, but if he continues on the trend he is on now, he could be on track to surpass the collegiate level and hear his name called early in the 2024 MLB Draft. A big statement, but that come with the same confidence that Southisene takes onto the field day in and day out. As only a sophomore, he could be argued as one of the top prospects in the state regardless of class with elite defensive actions and a mature approach at the plate with proven, present power to all field to go along with his ability to hit for average. The 2021 PBR Nevada State Championship MVP is projected to have another massive year for the Wolves and is one of the main reasons they are a favorite to raise the 2022 NIAA State Championship trophy at the end of the season. |
Burke Mabeus C / Coronado, NV / 2024The TCU commit utilized his obvious athleticism to amplify each part of his game to go with he present tools behind and at the plate. At 6-foot-2, 190 pounds, he announced his presence as a high level bat from both sides of the plate during his freshman campaign with flashes of present power to all fields. His flexibility and strength behind the plate allows him to receive the ball with ease, handle velocity and stick the steal pitches at the bottom of the zone. Expect Mabeus to be a key contributor for the Cougars this Spring, a team that could be primed for a deep run. |
Maddox Riske 2B / RHP / Bishop Gorman , NV / 2024Riske is gamer and the top available player in the 2024 Class, playing a hard nosed style that will be an excellent pick up for any program. A member of Team Nevada at the 2021 Future Games, he is not a players that is going to produces massive numbers, but will be a reason you win ball games and proved that at the premier event of the summer. The motor he plays with combined with his clean, confident defensive actions and almost a guarenteed tough at bat at the plate continuing to solidify himself as one of the top prospects in the sophomore class and will be one of the big names that programs will be coming to see at the 2022 Future Games. |
Christian Gross SS / RHP / Faith Lutheran, NV / 2024The Crusader announced his commitment to San Diego State University after the conclusion of the 2021 Future Games becoming another member of Team Nevada to lock in their Division 1 destination. Gross has proven his present tools on both the offensive and defensive side of the ball with a consistent, compact stroke at the plate that allows him to use all fields with power to come. Defensively, he has shown off his lateral range with the ability to change his arm angle to maintain his fluidity through the process. We expect his game to continue trending as he adds strength and size to his current 5-foot-11 frame. |
Connor Apeceche C / 3B / Green Valley , NV / 2024Apeceche has the ability to hold down multiple defensive positions at a high level, but we project his future to be behind the plate where he has shown his ability to handle velocity with his present strength standing at 6-foot-0, 195 pound with some present quickness, evident by his 1.93 PBR Verified Pop Time. His offensive game is what will carry him to the next level as a power bat with the ability to consistently find the barrel producing a 95.3 mph TrackMan Exit Velocity at the Southern Nevada Preseason ID. As just a sophomore, he is expected to be a significant offensive part in the heart of the Gator lineup and could be one of the top bats in that class after this Spring. |
Derek Bain C / SS / The Meadows, NV / 2024The small school prospect has continued to prove himself among the best in the 2024 Class, holding down a premium position behind the plate with a big left-handed bat that has shown present power to the pull side. Do not discount him for his smaller, stocky frame, he plays with the confidence and grit to combat any questions about his size. His 1.96 PBR Verified Pop Time puts him right near the top of not only the 2024 Class, but any Nevada Class. Expect Bain to have another massive year for The Meadows and to lead the Mustangs to deep playoff run with their eye on repeating as 2A NIAA State Champions. |
Dylan Franco 3B / RHP / Shadow Ridge, NV / 2024Franco is a potential power arm with his fastball already reaching up int the 90's from a loose 3/4 slot. He has shown his ability to pound the zone with his fastball, changeup, breaking ball mix with more to come as he continues to add size and strength. The Shadow Ridge and GBG Vegas product has a high ceiling with present strength in his lower half, present power in his right arm and room to add size to his 5-foot-10 frame. |
Nick Yu C / SS / Arbor View, NV / 2024Yu has the present athleticism and twitch to hold down multiple spot on the field. The bounce he plays with translates more at the shortstop position, but his ability behind the plate can not be discounted after he posted a PBR Verified 1.94 Pop Time at the Southern Nevada Preseason ID earlier this preseason. He understands how to use his wiry strength from his lean, compact frame that has plenty of room to add size and strength. |
Evan Festa OF / LHP / Coronado, NV / 2024The Coronado product has seen his game continue to trend over the past year, stepping into a key role as a freshman and never looking back. Since then, all he has continued to do is be a fixture at the top of the Cougar's lineup, using his athleticism to hold down any outfield spot with his PBR Verified 6.84 Laser Timed 60 speed. Festa seems to only be scratching the surface of his playing potential settling into the varsity level early in his High School career and we expect his sophomore campaign to be even better. Standing at 5-foot-11 with some broadness in the shoulders, his game is expected to continue its positive trend, making him a player that could continue making his way up the 2024 Class Rankings . |
Tee Southisene RHP / Basic, NV / 2024The other half of the Southisene tandem at Basic, Tee has found his game working primarily on the mound and his stock continues to rise because of it. He understands how to compete with his fastball that has worked up into the 80's with the looseness and frame to add more strength which should translate to his velocity down the road. Called on in some big moments as a freshman, he has shown improvements in his mix going into his sophomore season and is expected to be a key part of rotation during the 2022 campaign. |
