In its inaugural year, the Prep Baseball Report venture with the North Carolina Baseball Coaches Association has been a huge success.  Throughout the year, PBR has polled 60 members of the NCBCA for their rankings across the four NCHSAA classifications to come up with a bi-monthly poll of the top 10 teams in each classification.

The 60 coaches that were included were made up of an equal distribution from each of the four NCHSAA classifications, as well as an equal distribution from across the state’s 8 regions.  Coaches were supplied with information on record, schedules, and links to news, notes, and articles from PBR.  The coaches on the poll would submit a Top 10.  Points were assigned to each team a coach ranked in descending order (Team No. 10 gets 1 point and Team No. 1 gets 10 points). 

Prep Baseball Report would take the polls from each coach, calculate the total points and post the PBR-NCBCA Coaches Poll.

Our final poll reflects the end of the year, with each state champion claiming the No. 1 spot for each classification.  Each Regional Finalist ends the year ranked in their respective class’s top five.  Over the four polls a total of 101 teams received at least one vote, showing the strength and depth of  the state.  While the state playoff system may not provide a platform for the best team to advance, in a one and done system, in this year’s final poll, each of the teams ranked in the top five were ranked for a majority of the year.
