PBR Mailbag: Talking Missouri Prospects And The Draft

We had a busy few days in North Carolina last week with the USA Baseball National High School Invitational taking place. With the threat of rain approaching, games were moved up in anticipation so 15 were played on the second day. The First Academy, FL, won the championship with a sixth-inning rally against Clovis HS, CA. There were dozens of scouts in attendance to see the draft prospects play. I saw at least two dozen scouting directors myself and all 30 reportedly made an appearance at one point or another. Notebooks were posted at the end of each day, which can be viewed here: Day 1, Day 2, Day 3. I will highlight the event’s top players in a post on Tuesday.
As you get ready to watch all the Opening Day action for Major League Baseball, see what readers asked recently…
Where will OF Monte Harrison (Lee’s Summit West HS, MO) likely end up in this years MLB draft?
Harrison is an athletic freak with electric tools, but the one with a question mark on it is also the most important one—the hit tool. Harrison is a plus runner and has a cannon for an arm, which contributes to his ability on defense. He also has good raw power. But he was inconsistent at the plate last summer and scouts wonder if he'll hit enough. With that being said, he spread out more at the plate by the end of the summer and showed a flash of improvement at the Under Armour Game.
