Edwardsville senior outfielder Dylan Burris has been named this week’s PBR Illinois Player of the Week thanks to outstanding performance at the plate last week for the Tigers.
The left-handed hitting, Wabash Valley JC commit, broke a single-season school record and was the catalyst for No. 8 Edwardsville in a 3-0 week.
Burris, currently ranked No. 44 in the Illinois’ 2017 class, went 7-for-9 in the three games with two triples, two doubles, five runs, five runs batted in and one walk.
The Edwardsville record for triples in a single season was six, until Burris broke it this past week. Against Wesclin, in only game 18 of the season, Burris led-off with a triple to break the previous record. The speedy outfielder added another triple later in the week so the record now stands at eight with plenty of games left to be played.
Burris has seven triples in his last 11 games.
For his efforts, Burris has been named the PBR Player of the Week for the week of April 22 - April 29.
Stay tuned for our Weekly Diamond Notes, this Friday, as there were a number of players who narrowly missed out on the Player of the Week award.
