Scouting Report

Positional Profile: RHP/3B
Body: 5-10, 175-pounds.
Delivery: Rocker step into medium balance point, lands inline to catcher, shows solid extension and finish to plate.
Arm Action: RH. Longer arm action, becomes compact as it passes through, ball jumps out of hand with flashes of life.
FB: T84, 83-84 mph. Late run and sink on above avg. fastball.
CB: 71-73 mph. Above avg. depth on 11/5 breaking ball.
CH: 78-80 mph. Firm with cut action; thrown with deception at fastball arm speed.

Hit: RHH. Square stance, slight shoulder load, shows pop in bat, fly ball and line drive contact, consistently squares baseball. 
Power: 88 mph exit velocity from the tee.
Arm: RH. INF - 80 mph.
Defense: Heavier feet, avg. range, long release on throws, solid/avg. Accuracy to bag.
Run: 6.83 runner in the 60.

5-foot-9, 167-pound right-handed hitting 2-way player. On mound; rocker step and travels across rubber, solid sequence with hands and lower half, longer arm swing, ball comes out clean in front. Fastball jumps out of hand well at 83-86 mph, straight action, with flashes of riding life up and through zone. The curveball has tight spin, 11/5 shape, with small break and late depth. Changeup is firm, straight, with flat action to plate. 6.83 runner. Square stance, front heel turn trigger, short path to baseball, steep uphill swing through contact, mid/pull approach, 85 mph exit velocity. Avg. actions in field, heavier feet, tends to field with flat glove creating stiffness, makes routine plays, above avg. arm with accuracy and carry to bag, 78 mph arm strength across infield. Strong follow in 2021 class on mound.

 




 

 

PBR: What schools have expressed interest in you? 
WALTER: A mix of NAIA, JUCO, D2 and D3 schools.

PBR: Have you taken any visits, or have any visits scheduled in the near future? 
WALTER: I have one visit scheduled coming up and hope to schedule a few more.

PBR: Are you looking for anything in particular in a school? (Example: high academics, certain academic program, local, etc.) 
WALTER: I'm pretty open right now, but would like to attend a 4-year school.  Right now I plan on a business-related major.

PBR: What were some of your highlights during your junior year? 
WALTER: I was limited to 3 starts due to the shortened season, but my highlight was a complete game shutout against Linn-Mar. Was selected First Team All-District and 2nd Team All Mississippi Vally.

PBR: What are your goals for this year? 
WALTER: I'd like to help the team reach the state tournament, and as a four year varsity player be a leader on the team.  I want to lead the team in innings pitched and wins. 

PBR: Do you play any other sports? 
WALTER: I played basketball until Junior year.

PBR: What is your ACT and GPA? 
WALTER: 22 ACT and a 3.93 GPA on a 4.0 scale.
