PBR Future Games: Team Wisconsin Game Two Recap

Team Wisconsin continued their hot start to the 2021 Future Games on Thursday morning at 10:15 a.m., defeating Team Illinois 6-2.

INF/OF Max Hennemann (Oak Creek, 2023) has been amongst the biggest winners for Team Wisconsin thus far throughout the week. He drove in the first run of the game, barreling one through the right side of the infield in a tough left/left matchup.

Team Wisconsin scored again in the second inning after INF Ethan Hindle (Arrowhead, 2023) launched a no-doubt two-run shot over the left field fence; a ball that left his barrel at 96 mph and traveled 369 ft., per TrackMan. Hindle found another barrel in his third at-bat of the game, lining one out to left field on a breaking ball.

INF Jack Counsell (Whitefish Bay, 2023) took home our Player of the Game honors with a 2-for-3 day and a screaming line out to shortstop in his final at-bat. Counsell has shown well throughout the Future Games thus far, putting together a quality workout and spraying a few balls across the field yesterday, too.

OF/1B Caleb Karll (Madison West, 2023) continues to hit the ball as hard as just about anyone on the field, juicing two balls the opposite way in today’s game. C Thomas Curry (Arrowhead, 2023) drove in a run and OF J.T. Kelenic (Catholic Memorial, 2023) turned in a hustle double, too. INF/OF Quinn Falish (De Pere, 2023) reached base twice and drove a run in on a sacrifice fly.

Several Wisconsin arms showed well throughout the game, starting with RHP Jonah Conradt (P27 Academy, 2023). A wiry 6-foot-1, 162-pound athlete, Conradt ripped his fastball in at 86-88 mph, spinning it at a 2,400+ RPM average. He spun two distinct breaking balls, a curveball and slider, and also utilized his changeup to left-handed hitters in game.

Following Conradt was RHP Brayden Olson (St. Croix Falls, 2023), who came away a major winner from today’s performance. The 6-foot-1, 170-pound Olson allowed just one baserunner during his two innings of work, limiting hard contact throughout. He threw his fastball at 84-86 mph, touching an 87 mph high with natural run and sink. His go-to secondary offering was an advanced changeup that showed out-pitch potential, which he threw with plenty of confidence in any count and to all hitters, too.

RHP Zach Wolfram (Menomonee Falls, 2023) was the third Team Wisconsin arm we saw on Thursday. Built at a sturdy 6-foot-2, 225-pounds, Wolfram overcame some early adversity in his outing and settled in nicely, finishing his two innings on a strong note. He primarily relied on an 86-88 mph fastball and he uses his size to generate velocity rather easily. Wolfram also showed capable of landing a low-70s breaking ball for strikes.

Another highly regarded arm in the state that showed well against Team Illinois: RHP Presley Wachowiak (Catholic Memorial, 2023). A sturdy 6-foot-1, 195-pound athlete, Wachowiak worked just one inning, exclusively pumping his fastball in at 87-89 mph; hitting the 89 mph mark multiple times in a row. He showed off a true downer curveball that’s thrown with fastball intent, a pitch he’s been known for, and also flashed feel for a sinking changeup in his warmups.

Team Wisconsin will conclude their Future Games schedule on Saturday morning at 12:30 p.m. against Team Indiana.
