Scouting Report
6/12/19 - 6’ 165-pound frame. Throws slightly across body. Fastball worked up to 80 MPH with angle and some arm side run. Low effort delivery leads to ball jumping out of hand. Good timing with hands and leg lift, keeping him in the strike zone. Feel for the breaking ball at 64-66 MPH. Has depth on a slurvy breaking ball that spins well out of the hand. As he gets stronger, velo will jump quickly, with easiness of arm action.
1/27/19 – 6’ 160-pound frame. ¾ arm slot with clean arm action. Good arm speed, as all jumps out of hand with ease in delivery. Stays soft with his front side, taking away some of his lower half, which makes current velo impressive with his size. Fastball has life down at 82-83 MPH, with plenty more in the tank as lower half cleans up and strength comes. Breaking at 72-74 with feel for being down in the zone. 11/5 action with good shape and rotation, making it a future strike out pitch as velo increases. Good arm speed on change but didn’t need or show much. Change was at 70-71
6/6/18 - 6-foot, 160 pound-frame with considerable projection remaining. Collier showed more of what stood out at the recent D-Backs Academy Scout Day where we got our first look at the young lefty. He sat 81-83 mph with his fastball, pounding the strike zone with only average effort and the type of athletic delivery that should project for more velo down the line. Long, loose arm action with present arm speed. He also flashed a harder 76 mph slider with tight rotation and established himself as one of the top arms in the class. Also showed a 72-75 mph change up with some sink.
