EMERSON, GA. - The 11th Annual Prep Baseball Report Future Games got underway on Wednesday with a player workout that included athletic testing in addition to a traditional pro-style workout. On Thursday the games began with Team California facing off against Team Texas. 

Team California used stellar pitching and a hot offense that pounded out 13 hits to beat Texas 7-2 in front of roughly 100 college coaches. 

2024 RHP Tommy Bridges of Harvard Westlake got the start and went three shutout innings allowing on two hits while striking out three. 2025 SS/RHP Billy Carlson of Corona HS followed Bridges going three strong innings of his own collecting four strikeouts while lighting up the radar gun. 2025 RHP Grayson Boles of St. Augustine HS came in for the final inning and shut the door on the 7-2 win by striking out the side. 

Offensively Team California was led by 2024 C Cam Clewett who earned the Dick’s Sporting Goods Player of the Game after going 2-for-3 with a bases clearing double. 2025 OF Benjamin Gudoy III chipped in with two hits of his own including a double and run scored. 2026 James Tronstein had an RBI double off the left center field wall that put Team California up 4-0 early.

Quick Hits 

'24 Tommy Bridges - Harvard Westlake:

All Bridges seems to do is put up zeros every time we see him throw. The control he has of his FB/SL combination is as good as we’ve seen out of a ‘24 arm. He locates it to the gloveside consistently and hitters can’t seem to pick up his SL. The delivery is polished working under control, in good direction, with repeatability and the arm action is clean with arm speed that has ticked up seen with his FB velo being 86-88 T89. We also can’t say enough about his makeup and competitive energy. He’s who you want with the ball in a big spot and he didn't disappoint under the lights against Texas.  

'25 Billy Carlson - Corona HS: 

Carlson showed electric stuff on the mound Thursday night. The FB sat 88-90 sitting in the 2400s in RPM and cracking 2500 a couple of times. The story with his stuff though is the breaking ball which was 74-77 with slurvy shape that hitters couldn’t pick up with it getting up to 3000rpm and it garnering plenty of whiffs and confused takes. The athleticism down the mound and whippyness of the arm were easy to see and now the rest of the two games he gets to show what he can do at SS and at the plate. 

'24 Camden Clewett - Servite HS: 

It was a solid day for Clewett at the plate. He keeps it simple in his load with a slow/early toe tap trigger while keeping his hands in a good early connection hitting position. This allows the bat to have a clean/efficient entry into the zone which he does with above-average bat speed. He also put down quite the tag at home on an outfield assist and called a great game behind the plate.

'25 Benjamin Trey Gudoy: Francis Parker HS

Gudoy’s bat-to-ball skills are as advanced as it gets in the ‘25 class. There is an easy rhythm to his swing that allows him to be consistently on time. The hand speed was easily noticeable as they work real quick and on a good path through the zone. In all our looks at Gudoy, he just doesn’t seem to swing and miss and that is what we saw on Thursday.

'25 Grayson Boles - Saint Augustine

The two-way upside with ‘25 Grayson Boles is off the charts. The 6’4 190lb RHP/1B got himself a single with the bat and closed out the game striking out the side. There is an easiness to his delivery that allows him to repeat and just let the arm be quick. The FB sat 86-88 T89 with decent control gloveside. The SL was 72-75 where he got a whiff K and a looking K and he mixed in a fading CH at 78-80. He will also close out our finale game on Saturday against Indiana. 

'25 Ryland Duson - Vista Murrieta

Duson found two barrels on Thursday which included a hard opposite field 1B. The simple, short, and quickness of his swing allow him to barrel velo with ease. Also made a couple of tough-ranging plays at SS. One going up the middle and making a glove flip to 2nd. The other was coming in hard on a chopper showing fast glove-to-hand to get off a quick throw out to first. Duson is a high motor athlete that plays with an edge that we no doubt feel we will see the rest of the week.

'26 James Tronstein  - Harvard Westlake 

What Tronstein continues to show after every look is that he belongs with the best in the ‘24/’25 class as a ‘26. The bat speed is off the charts and that is seen with his max bat speed (via. blast) being the highest of the entire team PBR CA team during our workout on Wednesday. This bat speed allowed him to compete and win ABs against some really good Texas arms yesterday. We are excited to continue to watch him compete at the plate the rest of the week.
