PBR Future Games- Team IA-MN-NE Evaluations

This one-of-a-kind event featured the best uncommitted Class of 2019 prospects and select 2020 prospects from our 30-plus state coverage area. The Future Games took place on August 2 - August 5 at Grand Park, a state-of-the-art 22-field baseball complex located in Westfield, IN, just north of Indianapolis.
On Wednesday, all position players were put through a showcase workout with 60s, batting practice and defensive workout at their primary position. Team IA-MN-NE then played three games beginning on Thursday.
Below we have listed the evaluations for each player that was in attendance.

TEAM IA-MN-NE EVALS (ALPHABETICAL)
Max Carlson, RHP/OF, Burnsville (MN), 2020
6-foot, 160-pound right-handed hitting 2-way player. University of North Carolina commit. #15 ranked player in 2020 PBR Overall Rankings. Had a single and 3 walks in game action. 6.9 runner. Easy load and stride, short to contact, stays on and through, line drive swing plane with extension through baseball, 97 mph exit velocity. Comfortable in field with easy actions, good routes and angles, long strides and covers ground well, accurate to target with online throws that have carry, 94 mph arm from outfield. Slight tuck and turn over rubber, clean loose arm action, has extension to plate, ball jumps on hitter. Solid running action on fastball; compliments with one of better changeups in the 2020 class. Fastball was 85-90 mph, touching 91 mph, with 74-75 mph breaking ball, and an above avg. changeup at 73-77 mph.
Harrison Cook, RHP/1B, Cedar Rapids Prairie (IA), 2019
Uncommitted 6-foot-5, 170-pound right-handed hitting 2-way player. #271 ranked player in 2019 PBR Overall Rankings. Was 3/4 with 3 singles and a walk in game action. Long lean frame with athleticism. 7.41 runner. Body load with leg kick trigger, high back elbow setup, stays through zone, consistently finds barrel, line drive contact with mid/pull approach, 89 mph exit velocity. Above avg. athlete at first, soft hands, quick release, shows actions, 85 mph arm across infield from first base. Athletic high leg kick delivery, slight back side turn, hides ball from hitter, long arm stroke, occasional life to fastball, flashes feel for secondary, keys off breaking ball, when that starts to roll, fastball plays up and can be dominant on mound. Fastball was 85-88 mph and slider was 80-81 mph.
Noah Dehne, SS, Minnehaha Academy (MN), 2019
Uncommitted 5-foot-11, 170-pound right-handed hitting infielder. 7.27 runner. Easy body load, line drive swing plane, short finish, barrels ball consistently, gap to gap approach, 84 mph exit velocity. Accurate arm with quick release, sure hands, solid actions, profiles as college second baseman, 77 mph arm across infield.
Sayer Diederich, OF/LHP, Elkhorn South (NE), 2019
Uncommitted 6-foot, 175-pound left-handed hitting 2-way player. #171 ranked player in 2019 PBR Overall Rankings. 7.11 runner. Body load, flat line drive path, barrels ball consistently, mid/pull approach, 89 mph exit velocity. Solid actions in field, easy effort, above avg. arm action, online throws to target with accuracy and carry, 88 mph arm from outfield. Was 82-85 mph, touching 87 mph, with 71-74 mph breaking ball and 75-76 mph changeup. Athletic high leg kick delivery, moves ball to both sides of plate well, compliments with solid secondary, clean easy arm action. Projects to continue to add velo on mound.
Cole Evans, OF, Grand Island (NE), 2019
Uncommitted 6-foot-1, 190-pound right-handed hitting outfielder. Physical player with lean present strength. 7.23 runner. Easy weight into back leg, shoulder load, slight lift through contact, above avg. pop in bat, works gap to gap, 90 mph exit velocity. Works through ball, quick release, athletic powerful actions, throws are online with solid carry and accuracy, 87 mph arm from outfield.
Josh Fitzgerald, OF, Mason City Newman (IA), 2019
Uncommitted 6-foot, 170-pound right-handed hitting outfielder. #340 ranked 2019 in PBR Overall. Was 2/6 with double, homerun, walk and HPB. 6.71 runner. Physical frame with athleticism, active load, slight arm bar, above avg. bat speed, lift in swing plane, shows above avg. power to pull side of field, 85 mph exit velocity. Solid fielder with sure hands, on side of ball occasionally, accurate throws with solid accuracy, projects as corner outfielder in college. 86 mph arm from outfield.
Will Frisch, RHP, Stillwater (MN), 2019
6-foot-1, 210-pound right-handed pitcher. Texas Christian University commit. #18 ranked prospect in 2019 PBR Overall Rankings. Short turn into balance point, coils over rubber, drives down mound, fast arm, heavy arm-side life to fastball, flashes above breaking ball, changeup is thrown with conviction and has heavy split feel for strikes. Fastball was 89-92 mph, 66-70 mph breaking ball, and changeup was 79-80 mph.
Drew Gilbert, OF/LHP, Stillwater (MN), 2019
5-foot-10, 155-pound left-handed hitting 2-way player. Oregon State commit. #51 ranked prospect in 2019 PBR Overall Rankings. 6.93 runner. Aggressive swinger, body load, slashy line drive swing plane, above avg. pop for size, mid/pull approach, 89 mph exit velocity. Easy actions in field, strong arm with online throws, shows accuracy and carry, 91 mph arm strength from outfield. Uptempo delivery, arm is extremely quick from high ¾ slot. Shows life to both sides of plate. Breaking ball has tight 1/7 spin with late break. Was 85-88 mph on the mound with a 70-73 mph breaking ball.
Sam Goodman, RHP, Western Dubuque (IA), 2019
6-foot, 160-pound right-handed pitcher. Wichita State commit. Lean athletic build. Coils over rubber, hitchy arm action on back-side, heavy volume of strikes with 3 pitches. Has deception in arm action and delivery. Athletic on mound with ability to field position. Fastball was 85-87 mph with 72-74 mph slider.
Calvin Harris, C/OF, Western Dubuque (IA), 2020
Uncommitted 6-foot, 180-pound left-handed hitting catcher. #95 ranked player in 2020 PBR Overall Rankings. Played in one game and was 2/3 with two singles. 7.21 runner. Sneaky athletic, active load with hitchy trigger, consistently barrels baseball with hard contact, pull approach, 82 mph exit velocity. Longer arm action, has carry and accuracy to bag, slightly upright on release. Threw 80 mph with 2.00-2.12 pop times. Was 87 mph from the outfield as well. Has some versatility, is athletic, bat is best present tool, plenty of time to develop defensively before college.
Mac Horvath, SS/RHP, Rochester Century (MN), 2020
6-foot-1, 165-pound right-handed hitting 2-way player. MVP of 2017 PBR Future Games. University of North Carolina commit. #3 ranked prospect in 2020 PBR Overall Rankings. Had 2 doubles, a home run, and 6 RBI’s in game action. 6.66 runner. Easy hand rhythm, short to contact, ball explodes of bat, above avg. pop with gap to gap approach, 94 mph exit velocity. Long legs with plus speed, covers ground well, athletic in field, accurate to bag with carry, 91 mph arm across infield. Bulldog mentality on mound, lightning quick hands, high ¾ slot, ball jumps on hitter, above avg. life, feel for 3 pitches and pounds zone with large volume of strikes. Fastball was 86-89 mph with 72-74 mph curveball and 77-79 mph changeup.
Clayton Hromidko, RHP, Cedar Rapids Prairie (IA), 2019
Uncommitted 5-foot-11, 175-pound right-handed pitcher. Slight crouch, rolls through balance point, lands open to plate, live arm with long arm path to plate. Works slightly downhill. Fastball was 87-89 mph with 73-74 mph breaking ball and 67-68 mph changeup.
Cameron Hunter, 1B, East Ridge (MN), 2019
Uncommitted 6-foot, 205-pound right-handed hitting first baseman. Was 2/5 with 2 singles and a walk in game action. 7.74 runner. Large durable frame, Body load, some hand rhythm, has strength in wrists, shows above avg. pop to pull side of field, 93 mph exit velocity. Good footwork with sound glove, solid receiver around bag, covers ground, ability to start/finish double play, well above avg. arm with accuracy, 86 mph arm across infield from first base.
Cody Kelly, C, St. Michael-Albertville (MN), 2020
Uncommitted 6-foot-1, 170-pound left-handed hitting catcher. 7.29 runner. Long athletic build. Tall stance, easy trigger and stride, clean bat path, works gap to gap, line drive approach with sneaky pop, 83 mph exit velocity. Easy arm action, solid accuracy, above avg. carry, young mechanically, has tools to develop, high sought after LHH catcher prospect with room to grow, 74 mph arm strength with 2.04-2.12 pop times.
Dalton McNamara, SS, Centennial (MN), 2019
Uncommitted 5-foot-10, 160-pound left-handed hitting shortstop. #331 ranked prospect in 2019 PBR Overall Rankings. Was 2/6 with 2 singles in game action. 6.88 runner. Shows rhythm in load, linear lower half, shows projectable pop in bat, clean path with extension through contact, 90 mph exit velocity. Throws have carry and accuracy to bag, above avg. actions, soft hands, and works through ball to target, 84 mph arm across infield.
Ben Pedersen, RHP, Duluth Marshall (MN), 2019
Uncommitted 6-foot-5, 220-pound right-handed pitcher. #282 ranked prospect in 2019 PBR Overall Rankings. methodical leg lift that allows his longer arm swing to sync up before his fast arm delivers out of a high ¾ slot. His slider shows the makings a future swing and miss pitch with true-slider shape that is short and late-breaking at 77-78. The way he gets down the mound, it looks like he is going to swallow the batter, and he has the look and stuff of a future big time closer, although he has the durable frame of a starter. Fastball was 87-89 mph, curveball was 77-78 mph, and above average changeup was 76-78 mph.
Max Slavens, SS, Pleasant Valley (IA), 2019
Uncommitted 5-foot-9, 175-pound left-handed hitting infielder. 7.49 runner. Leg kick trigger, body load, mid/pull approach, solid line drive approach, 77 mph exit velocity. Works down to up, sure hands, accurate throws, solid footwork in field, profiles at 2B/3B/LF in college. 85 mph arm across infield.
Ryan Sleeper, LHP, Lakeville North (MN), 2019
Uncommitted 6-foot-4, 190-pound left-handed pitcher. #156 ranked prospect in 2019 PBR Overall Rankings. Beginning to fill out frame. Physically impressive arm on mound. Short turn into athletic balance point, long arm swing, moderate effort, slight head jerk, flies open occasionally. Above avg. stuff with 3 pitch mix. Fastball was 85-88 mph with 70-72 mph curveball and 80-81 mph changeup.
Casey Sole, C, Cedar Falls (IA), 2019
Uncommitted 6-foot-1, 190-pound left-handed hitting catcher. 7.59 runner. Large durable build. Easy load and rhythm, slight lift in swing plane, hard fly ball contact, mid/pull approach, 85 mph exit velocity. Sound receiver, slight hitch in release, avg. accuracy to bag, projectable build behind plate, 75 mph arm strength with 2.11-2.26 pop times.
