The following is a scout blog from a game between Diamond Club and the PBR Fall Prospect Team. All players are listed in alphabetical order:
Jacob Arellano, SS/OF, Mountain Range, 2017 (Diamond Club)
5-foot-8, 140 pound SS/OF. Bats right and throws right. Hits from a balanced athletic stance. Showed good range at SS. Had two hits, and impressed with good base running instincts. Has good speed on the bases and collected two hits on the day. Grew up in Colorado and just moved back into the state. We look forward to seeing him play in the Southern Colorado Prospect Games. Young player who shows a lot of skills .
Romney Clement, P/OF, Niwot, 2016 (Diamond Club)
6-foot-2, 170 pound P/OF. Bats right and throws right. Effortless motion with 3/4 arm slot. Threw a heavy fastball that was 75-77 mph hitting 78 once. Slow curveball was 12-6 coming in at 60 mph. Threw well in relief. Projectable frame that can add more velocity as he gets stronger.
Wyatt Linde, P/OF, Boulder, 2015 (Diamond Club)
6-foot, 170 pound left handed pitcher thew from a high 11/5 arm slot. Pitched 3 innings without giving up any runs. Fastball was 74-76 touching 78 with sink. Threw a fast 66-68 mph curveball with good late tilt. Works at a good pace.
Ryan Faircloth, OF, Dakota Ridge High School 2016 (PBR Fall Team)
A 5-Foot-10 150 pound athletic outfielder bats and throws right. Throws from a long ¾ slinging arm slot with some accuracy. Hits from an slightly closed setup, load is minimal with hands already back with a good approach up the middle of the field. Ryan had a nice game making three catches, two that showcased his quick lateral movement to the gaps. At the plate, Ryan was 2-4 with a single and a double, and he added 2 stolen bases to cap off his night.
Logan Hinkle, C-3B, Golden, 2015 (Diamond Club)
6-foot-1, 195 pound right handed hitting/throwing C/3B. Big strong looking player. Tall catcher. Bats from a slight crouching position with good bat speed and a slight uphill swing with good extension through the zone. Had a 2-run single and 2-run double on the day.
John Mallon 1B, Highlands Ranch High School 2015 (PBR Fall Team)
A 6-foot-2 190 pound right-handed hitting first baseman has an strong athletic, projectable frame. Hits from a tall, open setup, hands load back smoothly, utilizes a short stride that he closes down before ball enters hitting zone. Swing is fast through the zone producing uphill bat path with room to grow. Mallon anchors the line up in the 5 hole for the PBR Fall Team. Against Diamond club Mallon had a big 2 out 2 run double in the top of the third inning. In the field he is athletic on balls in the hole and shows soft hands and good feet around the bag.
Tommy Sautel, SS, Dakota Ridge High School, 2015 (PBR Fall Team)
The 6-foot-0 175 pound senior. Bats and throws right. Hits from a tall stance with minimal load, producing short uphill bat path. Sautel was all over the field this night, playing both his native Short Stop and showing good range in Right Field. He had two highlight plays deep in the hole at short where he was able to showcase his quick feet and accurate arm (80 mph inf velo) over to first base getting both runners by two steps. At the plate Sautel continued his hot hitting from the Labor Day Tournament, going 2-3 with 1 RBI. On the fall season he has a .727 average with 3 RBI and 2 stolen bases.
Ben Schechter, MIF/OF, Lakewood High School 2016 (PBR Fall Team)
The 5-foot-10 140 pound junior. Throws from a long slinging arm slot with some accuracy. In the infield, threw 78 mph across the diamond from a short arm action, impressing with average hands and clean exchanges playing through the baseball. Hits from an open setup, loading hands back smoothly with a good approach up the middle of the field. Level bat path. With the bat in his hands he swings from the left side and runs a 4.34 home to first. Against Diamond Club he collected 1 hit, 1 RBI and 1 stolen base. After watching him this fall shows ability to play multiple positions. We have seen him pitch, play ss, play 2B, and play OF.
