Our scouts are stationed at both fields during the course of the tournament. Following is a look at scouting notes, video, and more from tournament action at Iron Horse Sports in Windber, PA ...
DAY ONE (FRIDAY, AUGUST 14TH):
Starting off the Day 3️⃣ of #FallKickoff w/ an interesting ‘21 arm. RHP Carter Beneigh (Seneca Valley / @Spikes_Baseball ) holding 84-86 T87 from a power H 3/4 slot. Impressive athlete in 6-0, 185 lb frame, feel for 3️⃣ in zone.. “College ready” 70 BB, & 77 CH w/ ⬆️ arm speed. ? pic.twitter.com/pO4Z881gri
— Ted Williams (@T_Wills1) August 16, 2020
‘22 RHP Talon Mihalinac (Blackhawk / Pirates) is extremely physical in the lower half, 6-1 / 225 lbs and lives at the knees with a heavy T85 FB. Working a 72 CB into the zone w/ 11-5 shape as well, plenty of GB’s in the 1️⃣st. #FallKickoff @DanCevette pic.twitter.com/pH4BbB1yAn
— Ted Williams (@T_Wills1) August 16, 2020
Talk about pro level defenders.. @WVUBaseball commit ‘21 SS Jim Sadler (Chartiers Houston / Pirates) made a beautiful play last inning on a slow roller from 3B. Finished his momentum past the second baseman ?. Legit footwork & feel for pace, ⬆️ arm strength. #FallKickoff pic.twitter.com/uW6FrZcaKQ
— Ted Williams (@T_Wills1) August 16, 2020
Now ‘21 @WVUBaseball commit Jimmy Sadler (Chartiers Houston / Pirates) gets a great piece of one but is robbed of extra bases by ‘21 MIF Nathan Hess (North Allegheny / @Spikes_Baseball). Beautiful play up the middle w/ feel for a 5-10, 158 lb frame. #FallKickoff pic.twitter.com/BhEhZzoF5m
— Ted Williams (@T_Wills1) August 16, 2020
Give me a team of ‘22 RHP Derrick Shields (Mt. Lebanon / Pirates) & we’ll go win games. T82 on the FB & has mixed a high level 73 mph CH about 50% of the time. Getting plenty of swings off end of the bat & weak contact. Great stick by ‘23 C John Chalus for the ?. #FallKickoff pic.twitter.com/hyaCYbhyty
— Ted Williams (@T_Wills1) August 16, 2020
I’ve been all in on @SHGriffBaseball commit ‘21 OF Drew Garth (North Hills/ @Spikes_Baseball) since he ran a 6.79 60-yard in a physical 5-11, 195 lb frame this winter. LHH can also swing it, gap to gap prowess & finds plenty of barrels. 1B to RF here. #FallKickoff pic.twitter.com/qkzR18NKaL
— Ted Williams (@T_Wills1) August 16, 2020
‘22 RHP Jordan Kolenda (Avonworth / @Spikes_Baseball) impressed me at #PBRLimitedSeries last month w/ confidence & a competitive mindset on the bump. T83 on this pitch living down in the zone, 66 CB w/ good spin, 75 CH w/ sell. 6-2, 155 lbs & 3.89 GPA ???. #FallKickoff pic.twitter.com/yUMX6ENuuz
— Ted Williams (@T_Wills1) August 16, 2020
Really liked watching ‘21 LHP Robert Herr (Laurel / Pirates) attack the zone on the mound. Hides the ball well w/ a pause by the hip on the takeaway & releases thru a quick, H 3/4 slot w/ slight ⬇️ slope on T83 FB; K here. Dropped in tight 72-73 CB showing 1/7 shape. #FallKickoff pic.twitter.com/qJ4lr0wPPt
— Ted Williams (@T_Wills1) August 16, 2020
Great swing here from ‘21 INF AJ Bryan (South Fayette / Pirates). Athletic 5-10, 165 lb frame & gets off consistent quality at bats. RHH up to an 89 mph exit velo per @TrackManBB at #PAStateGames. 6.99 60-yard, you can see the ability in the movements. #FallKickoff pic.twitter.com/eUmTKFX2l0
— Ted Williams (@T_Wills1) August 16, 2020
Might want to circle this name for future reference.. Velo isn’t quite there yet, but ‘23 LHP Madden Clement (Butler Area / @Spikes_Baseball) is going to be very good. Sequence here ➡️ 69 CH, 68 CH, 64 CB for the ?. Feel for 3️⃣ in any count, 6-0 / 160 lb frame. #FallKickoff pic.twitter.com/eI1Z9hFgE7
— Ted Williams (@T_Wills1) August 16, 2020
Talk about projectability.. 6-6 / 235 lb frame in ‘21 RHP Hayden Zaffino (Mercyhurst Prep / Pirates). T83 on the FB w/ good extension on the front side. 69 CB showing some feel for spin, 71 straight CH. Body is legit, velo will go ⬆️ as he continues feeling it out. #FallKickoff pic.twitter.com/z3RPLh8vpW
— Ted Williams (@T_Wills1) August 16, 2020
Final line on Clement... 3️⃣ innings, 1 H, 5 K’s, 0️⃣ R. A definite follow as the velo climbs. Pitchability is already next level. #FallKickoff https://t.co/xKcUsicjNr
— Ted Williams (@T_Wills1) August 16, 2020
Big fan of ‘22 C Aaron Posey (North Allegheny / Pirates). Swung it very well yesterday at #FallKickoff & can really handle himself behind the plate. 2.13 pop on the bag between innings, has been perfect on block attempts so far this game; a solid addition to any roster. pic.twitter.com/cY5xt11vBK
— Ted Williams (@T_Wills1) August 16, 2020
The brother to brother connnection working to perfection here. ‘24 RHP David Posey T82 w/ fluidity in the arm swing. Landed high spin 68-69 mph breaker that showed late bite & 11-5 shape w/ depth. A must follow in an already advanced 6-3, 200 lb frame, #JrFutureGames participant. pic.twitter.com/60SbO5wTwm
— Ted Williams (@T_Wills1) August 16, 2020
Liked the look of ‘21 RHP Brandon Robaugh (Trinity / @Spikes_Baseball). Well put together at 5-10, 186 lbs & gets good leg drive allowing for life on T82 FB from a 3/4 slot. Turns over a 70-71 mph SL w/ horizontal bite thrown to either handedness, K to end the inn. #FallKickoff pic.twitter.com/RChW9BqGoA
— Ted Williams (@T_Wills1) August 16, 2020
3rd hit of the day for ‘21 Thomas Koch (Fox Chapel / @Spikes_Baseball). LHH is physical in the box & already had a scorched 2B, and 1B earlier in the game. Liked the approach and willingness to be in attack mode each at bat. #FallKickoff pic.twitter.com/7lUScOElej

‘21 RHP Pat Kerrigan (@CBWestBaseball / @buckscobaseball) sat 83-85 mph in his first inning of work painting the outside corner to RHH w/ arm-side run. 6-2, 195 lb starters build & counters with 71-73 CB displaying sharp two-plane sweeping action for s&m. #FallKickoff @DanCevette pic.twitter.com/JhhR0dY4KN
— Ted Williams (@T_Wills1) August 16, 2020
Interesting look at ‘21 RHP Christian Stevens (North Penn / @buckscobaseball).. T86 on this pitch from the stretch w/ natural cut. From the wind works slow tempoed & then quick, ⬆️ intent H 3/4 slot takes over on front side. 70 CB as well. @GoBUHuskies commit. #FallKickoff pic.twitter.com/5NgEhJNueu
— Ted Williams (@T_Wills1) August 16, 2020
After a 14 pitch at bat, ‘22 Joey Petrongolo (Mulica @PBRNewJersey / @SandSharks2000) gets ahold of one for a loud out to LF. Good bat to ball skills & some twitch in the actions, really liked the approach both days. #FallKickoff pic.twitter.com/3hJN7IrJQn
— Ted Williams (@T_Wills1) August 16, 2020
Great start in our last game of #FallKickoff from @SandSharks2000 ‘21 RHP Jordan Silvestri (Millville, NJ) T78 on the FB but tunnels well out of same H 3/4 slot. 67 CB to outside part of the zone, doesn’t get over middle of plate much. Knows how to pitch; 3 inn, 1 hit, 4 K, 0 R. pic.twitter.com/SjreZT6TMh
— Ted Williams (@T_Wills1) August 16, 2020
A lot to like in @ArmyBaseball commit ‘21 RHP Liam Del Guerico (Neshaminy / @buckscobaseball). Loose, whippy arm action creating high spin on a T86 FB playing with heaviness at the knees. Gets natural ASR & flips in ⬆️ level CB at 71 mph for strikes. 73 CH too; #FallKickoff pic.twitter.com/LCQgVxoCe8
— Ted Williams (@T_Wills1) August 16, 2020
2nd backside knock of the game for ‘21 1B Tony Rossi (@cbebaseball / @buckscobaseball) this one going for a 2-run single. Massive improvements over the past year, 93 exit velo now per @TrackManBB & bat to ball skills have gotten better. 6-4, 220 lb frame. #FallKickoff pic.twitter.com/MjXfxiKIn7
— Ted Williams (@T_Wills1) August 16, 2020
Nice one knee receiving technique here from ‘22 C Tyler Gross (Cedar Creek, NJ / @SandSharks2000). Steals a strike call in on 0-1 count changing the entire at bat. Beats the ball to the spot with regularity, #FallKickoff. pic.twitter.com/foXltfHads
— Ted Williams (@T_Wills1) August 16, 2020
‘21 OF Ryan Wheet (Council Rock South / @buckscobaseball) is all tooled up; 6.79 runner, 97 bat exit at #PAStateGames & is just now seeing the results in game action. Two ropes for hits today, has light tower power when he gets ahold of it. Intriguing prospect. #FallKickoff pic.twitter.com/RvMAPfRNJL
— Ted Williams (@T_Wills1) August 16, 2020
I love pitchers who just know how to fill it up. ‘21 LHP Jake Schweiker (Neshaminy / @buckscobaseball) certainly fits that mold.. Impressive sequence here ➡️ 66 CB strike, 69 SL strike, 81 FB on the corner for what should’ve been a ?. Getting outs; #FallKickoff pic.twitter.com/OocrhHuD2Y
— Ted Williams (@T_Wills1) August 16, 2020
This ball was hit HARD. ‘21 SS Zach Smith (Perkiomen School / @buckscobaseball) w/ a laser triple over LF head. 90 mph bat-exit per @TrackManBB & 81 across the diamond in February. Movements are legit & short barrel path allows for ⬆️ bat to ball skills. 4.5 GPA ???#FallKickoff pic.twitter.com/OopArf4LuI
— Ted Williams (@T_Wills1) August 16, 2020
The hottest hitter of the weekend ‘21 Joe Purcell (Council Rock South / @buckscobaseball) steps onto the mound & runs it up to T85 w/ athleticism in the arm swing. Got great overlay & deception on a wipeout 66 mph CB w/ two-plane bite. Legitimate 2-way candidate. #FallKickoff pic.twitter.com/ba5xZUnLy1
— Ted Williams (@T_Wills1) August 16, 2020
Just ran it up to 8️⃣6️⃣ twice in his 2nd inning of work. Standout performance all around. A name to know in the ‘21 class. @buckscobaseball #FallKickoff @DanCevette https://t.co/tTSKA8jr1S
— Ted Williams (@T_Wills1) August 16, 2020
Great transfer & throw to catch a would be basestealer from ‘21 C Tim Mastrogiovanni (Pennridge / @buckscobaseball). 75 mph arm strength from the crouch at #PAStateGames in June & hovers 2.0 pop times in showcase setting. 88 bat exit as well; #FallKickoff. pic.twitter.com/jY3APFFSjD
