The PA Underclass Games were held at Consol Energy Park in Washington, PA on September 22 and 23. Today we take a look at the prospects who participated as members of the only team to go undefeated on the weekend - the Red Team.

                                   

Grant Conway, SS/2B, Class of 2015, Hempfield HS
Conway combined with Ted Williams to form a solid double play combination. The two combined to turn three rally killing double plays in Game #1 against the Black Team. Conway is a 5-foot-11, 140-pound middle infielder with good range and soft hands. Conway went 2-for-4 with a double and two RBI in Game #1.

Terry Godfrey, LHP, Class of 2014, Eastern York HS
Godfrey got the Red Team rolling in Game #1 by limiting the Black Team to one unearned run over four innings. The 5-foot-8, 155-pound lefty touched 81mph with good control of a 68mph curveball that has 11/5 break. Godfrey allowed just one hit while striking out four in his four innings of work.

Gabriel Witmer, OF/RHP, Class of 2015, Twin Valley HS
The 5-foot-8, 145-pound Witmer ran a solid 7.22 60-yard dash and showed a strong outfield arm at 78mph. Witmer went 3-for-7 at the plate in two games with a double. On the mound Witmer topped out at 76mph with an over the top delivery.

Ted Williams, 2B/SS, Class of 2014, Meadville HS
Williams got plenty of action in the field in two games, combining with his teammates on four double plays. He showed excellent range and quick feet. His 7.16 60-yard dash was the third fastest at the event. His two RBI double in the first inning of Game #1 and his RBI single in the first inning of Game #2 helped get the Red Team off to fast starts in both games.

Zach Craven, 1B/3B, Class of 2014, McKeesport HS
Craven showcased well in the early portion of the day on Saturday, but he saved his best for game action. Craven had a 1-for-3 outing with a double in the Red Team's Game #1 win. He then followed that up with a 3-for-4 performance in the Red Team's Sunday victory with a triple and four RBI. Craven was named as the Red Team's MVP for his efforts.

                                   

Alex Kirilloff, LHP/OF/1B, Class of 2016, Cheswick Christian Academy
Kirilloff is a 6-foot, 170-pound left handed hitter who impressed in all facets of the game. The fresman showcased well with an 83mph bat exit speed velocity and 7.31 60-yard dash time. During game play he demonstrated signs that he has the makings of a special hitter, going 3-for-7 on the weekend.

Rick Svetlak, C/3B, Class of 2015, Poland Seminary HS (OH)
Svetlak showcased pop times of 2.31-2.37 on throws of 75mph out of the crouch. He displayed good receiving and blocking skills, and had hits in both games on the weekend.

Scott Pierce, OF/RHP/SS, Class of 2014, Austintown Fitch HS (OH)
Pierce showed why he was invited to participate for Team Pennsylvania at the Under Armour Midwest Future Games in August. He showcased a solid 80mph bat exit speed along with an 81mph fastball from the hill. Pierce worked three solid innings on the weekend also displaying a 64-66mph curveball that he consistently threw for strikes.

Matt Rafferty, RHP, Class of 2014, Seneca Valley HS
Rafferty worked the first four innings of Game #2 for the Red Team. The 5-11, 175-pound right hander showcased an 82mph fastball, 67mph curveball, 70mph changeup and a 75mph slider. The slider is a plus pitch that he used repeatedly to chalk up eight strikeouts in his four innings of work.

Caleb Thorn, OF/1B, Class of 2014, Knoch HS
Thorn threw 75mph from the outfield and had a bat exit speed of 78mph. He had an RBI single in Game #2 that helped the Red Team jump out to a 7-0 lead.

Cameron Enck, RHP/3B, Class of 2015, Lampeter-Strasburg HS
Enck has projectable size at 6-foot-4, 200-pounds. He alllowed one unearned run in four innings of work over two days. Enck showcased a 79mph fastball along with a 73mph curveball with an 11/5 break that he spotted well to keep hitters off balance. 

Brandon Nania, 3B/C/1B, Class of 2014, Franklin Regional HS
Nania showcased the 2nd fastest bat exit speed at the event, 88mph. The 5-foot-11, 205-pound left handed hitter showed the ability to drive the baseball to all fields during batting practice. Using the same approach in game play, he went 2-for-6 on the weekend. Nania's ability to catch and play both corner infield positions was demonstrated as he played each position during the course of the weekend.
