WV Director of Scouting
Wheeling Park's Michael Grove will have something unique that no other pitcher has when the PA Top Prospect Games get under way on June 17 at Kelly Automotive Park in Butler, PA. Of the 43 pitching prospects that will toe the rubber over the course of the two day event, Grove will be carrying the torch for West Virginia. Scouts will have to wait until the final game of Day Two to get a look at Grove who is coming off a standout performance last week in the WV Class AAA semifinals where he sat upper 80s into the 7th inning.
Grove is a talented two-way prospect and will participate as a shortstop leading up to his stint on the mound on the 2nd day of the event. The 6-foot-2, 180-pound senior-to-be is currently ranked No. 12 in the WV Class of 2015. A strong performance next week on the heels of his impressive showing in the state tournament last week could vault Grove even higher when the rankings are updated in late June.
All told, 46 pitchers will toe the rubber over two days with Grove being the only one to hail from West Virginia. CLICK HERE for rotations for all six teams.
The PA Top Prospect Games are in their 3rd year of existence and will kick start the summer schedule of Prep Baseball Report events in both Pennsylvania and West Virginia. The summer's culminating event will be the two day West Virginia Top Prospect Games on August 9 and 10 at the YMCA Kennedy Center Field in Huntington.
