Ontario Top Ten Breakdown: Top Viewed Prospect Profiles - #1 Jaden Brown
#1 Jaden Brown, SS, St. Marcellinus, 2019
Background: Jaden Brown jumped onto the scene early in 2016 as a freshman shortstop with bat speed you just don’t see at his age. The first time I saw him hit, he may of had more whip through the zone than half the seniors who were there there that day. He hits with a leg kick to load, and ends up more often than not on his front foot. Any issues with Brown are mostly timing, the strength and quickness in his hands and wrists allow him to be explosive to the ball and more often than not he does not get cheated at the plate. Athletic frame at 6-foot-1, 165-pounds, has run a 6.94 in the past and will become quicker as he matures and gains strength. Plays shortstop and also some outfield this past year. Moves well in lower half showing agility in the infield, actions work, the approach can be fine tuned with reps and syncing his lower half and hands together The foundation in there for Brown to be premier athlete.
Overview: Brown will most likely suit up for the 16u Ontario Blue Jays this spring/summer in the CPBL league. Will be a good challenge to see if he can stick at shortstop and if he becomes more comfortable in the infield. Love the frame, strength, and how the body projects. The running will be quicker, as will his feel for the game with the more live repetitions he gets. Chance to be an impact bat with power, Brown is still a young player in development stages but the upside is there with speed, strength, and athleticism, Brown is definitely one to dream on. We look forward to watching him play in 2017.
